Just purchased a used bike (07 FZ1) and was cleaning the chain and noticed a fair bit of play in the front sprocket. Is this normal or do I just need to torque it down again? Its an aftermarket Vertex 16T if that makes a difference.

Thanks

I will check the torque but how do you secure the nut? Sorry first bike with a chain been spoiled by drive shafts. The chain was at about 1.5 to 1.75 slack so it would surprise me if the sprocket wasn't correct.

Hi Meanstreak, The nut has a lock washer with bending tabs. Part number 90215-30233.

FYI, if you don't have a manual, to check the proper chain slack, get it on the center stand, rotate the wheel till you find the tightest spot and adjust till you have .98-1.38". Keep it clean and lubed and it will las a long time.
