Just my feeling - but this thing took me 12hrs to complete. When I have gone to the classroom - 6 hrs - No problem!!
I did fail the LONGEST Chapter. LOL It was around 30 Chapters. Totally sucked!!! And I failed by one question. That added 1.5hrs to the total. I still think you will get off a lot easier (you have to actually pay attention online) and I never paid attention in a Defensive Driving Class. LOL
Anyone else had any experiences with this?

Last time I did DD, I did so while crossing the Atlantic at 37000 ft. In Cali, you can get a booklet and test. I simply took the test and looked up the answers. Took me about 15 minutes.

I did an online Traffic School about a year ago, it was super easy, the site was setup with a "fail safe" to force you to read the entire chapter before you took the quiz by adding a question that has nothing to do with driving.

Basically you can skip the reading part, check the quiz for the weird question and then go back a page and use the browsers "find" feature to quickly find the random item hidden in the text, then go forward again and take the quiz and move on to the next section. I think I only needed to actually look up 2 or 3 questions because they wanted an exact answer, other than that I know the rules of the road even if I choose to ignore the speed limit signs on the freeways from time to time.

Our system is totally different.
We cannot skip any page. NOT ONE SINGLE PAGE. EVERY page has a time limit on it. You also cannot skip through the videos. Plus most videos have a quiz directly after them. Including busy questions like "What was the name of the victim in the crash" or "What town did the man driving the car have an accident in".
You have to pay attention in our system. Totally blows!!!!
Much easier to sit in a class and not pay attention for about half the time and walk out the door. I always wanted to do a comedy club but I don't have one close to me.

I liked online. It took no where near 12 hours for me. Was more like 6-7 hours. Of course I took it maybe 6 years ago so maybre the curriculum changed.

I liked it online because I could do it at my liesure. I am exactly the opposite of most. I don't want to sit in any room for 6-8 hours. I do that M-F every week. :D

LOL
One funny thing about my bad DD experience.....it worked. I have not been speeding. :-) In fact, when I go down roads I normally would speed, I consciously think about the consequences and I don't do it!!!
Hahaha
So I guess in a way - online DD may be more effective as a deterrent.

I recently took the 8-hour course (NC-based) online. Took about 5 hours and would have taken less but it was set up so that you had to go through it page by page and each page had a timer on it that would not let you advance until the timer ran out. :( My court date hasn't come up yet but my lawyer strongly suggested I go ahead and take the course. And do 24 hours community service. My ticket is for speeding only. I've learned since getting the ticket that the FZ1 is capable of being ridden at much lower speeds than I'd imagined. :disapproval:

if you do not like doing the school thing. get a commercial class A dl. :deal:

as NO commercial driver can do any school for any ticket. :wow: :bs:

LOL
You got that right. I found out the hard way. I had a Class A CDL from a job I had in college and just always hung on to it. It used to be a few dollars more (I know that has changed but...) so I thought it would be cool to have something to fall back on if I ever needed it.
Well a few years ago I got nailed for running a railroad crossing (NO TRAIN ANYWHERE IN SIGHT) and a 20 yr old state trooper came over to lecture me about safety while writing the ticket. The lecture was more painful than paying the ticket. LOL He was one of those troopers that started writing as soon as he walked up to me. Well I didn't know this law had changed. NO defensive driving for CDL driver. OUCH!!!! That is pretty harsh.

Well the reason I made this thread was to gripe a little but also to spread the word that taking DD online is not as easy as it sounds. In a classroom - it's a flat out joke. NO ONE EVER fails. NO ONE. So I went into this online DD thinking - Hey - it's pretty well common sense - I will kick back with a beverage, relax in my favorite chair and just watch some videos. Then have a easy test at the end. Well I wanted to tell everyone that it's not like that.. I wouldn/t call it hard but I would say that tedious. Lot's of questions like "What was the name of the victim in the 2nd accident?" and there was a shitload of reading. Now I like to read but after a certain amount of time - anything can get old. This got old really fast.
So that was why I made this thread......To warn everyone that it's not as easy as it sounds (because I thought chilling at home and cruising through an online class would be easy)......and I wanted to bitch a little. :deal:

Yes - that is the way ours was set up also.
Well I knew that I didn't click "Next" as soon as I could but I don't if I could have shaved 3 hours......Maybe??
I know where I really messed up: My attitude was very wrong. I wanted tho have something that I would blow off and this was not the answer. HAHAHA!!!
In fact - here is the website

I will be doing the online DD class in the very near future. Me and the GF had been planning on doing the class sometime soon to lower our insurance rates a few dollars. Well after getting a speeding ticket this morning sooner or later became sooner . Hopefully the class will not take me 12 hours...

If there is anyway you can go to.a.comedy club or take the class another way - besides online - i would highly recommend it
