Check out the "Better shock for less $$" thread under Gen2 mods. While the shock wasn't designed to be rebuilt, my tuner Phil can get it done and it works well.
 
Congrats on going with the best Gen II color scheme out there IMO. I love the silver and red ones too. Infact red was what kept me drooling on the gen II FZ1 everytime I saw one person on my daily commute. But the silver matches the stock pegs and exhaust best. Don't know why they didn't reintroduce that color scheme again.
