dash readout

just out of interest...

i rode in the cold last week and my temp readout was around 72 to 73 degrees...but then i noticed the readout changed to what looked like A....6, possibly R...6 which then rose to 7 then 8...

next ride it went back to 73 degrees readout..it was still cold..

any ideas?

I assume you are speaking in Celsius terms. I know 73C is 163F, so that is the actual temp of the "coolant" "C" in the engine (engine temp). I think it's a short tap of the "Reset" button that changes the reading to "A" or "air box" temp. That is the temp of the air in the intake. It's usually slightly higher than the outside air temp due to the engine heat effecting the intake temp, but it's close. When you turn off the key and then back on, it resets to the engine temp by default.

I hope that was clear enough.
