While sitting at a stoplight the other day, I noticed something odd. Clutch in (or out for that matter), in gear (or out, tried both ways for comparison), idling at around 1,200rpm (from what I've read this is normal), with what I would describe as normal engine 'vibration'. In other words it's not missing, stumbling, sporadic tach, etc...just a purr. Here's where it gets interesting...
When I grab the brake, there's an ever so slight change in vibration (more), but enough that can easily be seen in the mirrors. My guess is that it's the extra load to the charging system for the brake light, but I'm not familiar with the alternators on these things...yet.
It's not enough to be alarmed, like I said...just a curious observation. I'll be installing a Motodynamics integrated LED taillight in the next couple of days, and I'm interested to see if the more efficient lighting affects this any...if at all.
Then again, maybe I just pay too much attention to the little things?!
