Corbin or Yamaha Comfort Seat?

Hello everybody.
Regarding seat choices I have not seen anyone mention the use of padded bike shorts.

I used them all the time on my last motorcycle along with a corbin seat.

I plan on using a pair with my new bike along with the new seat I will eventually get.

These days I spend a lot of time on a really uncomfortable seat that really needs the padded shorts.

I did try the padded bike shorts once on a long ride (about 4hrs) and really didn't find that they helped all that much. Maybe it was the location of the padding in the shorts. It wasn't in an area where it really helped much since the FZ1 seat is so much wider than your typical bike seat.
 
I believe the shape of the seat is as important that the density of the foam. Some seats can roll your hips forward which can be really uncomfortable.

I'll have to give that a shot! I have a pair of padded shorts for when I go mtn biking. They should fit on underneath my textile pants perfectly.

I've just come back from a trip to Tassie, to find my seats waiting for me. Identical to the one you have on offer!!!!

Could have saved me a heap :(

I had that exact set up on my 08 FZ1 and whenever my wife and I would take a long trips I would put it on for my her, she really liked it a lot. It also gave me a little more confidence on the back roads when we were out for a spirited ride that when I was aggressive with the throttle I would not send her off the back not being prepared for it.

slesser, purchased my set up from me when I decided to get another bike, he may be able to give you some additional feedback also.

I have that setup also on my FZ1 and I think it helps more psychologically than anything else. The way the seat is angled the passenger always seems to slide into the rider anyway so the backrest is not that useful.

I say save your money and just have her hang on tight to you :D

I agree, but ("Happy Wife Happy Life") after 33 years togther, I better make her "emotionally happy" and get the Corbin and the rear peg lowering kit.

I have a temporary tailbone pain (L1 to L5 issue). The the idea of wearing my new padded bicycle shorts under the jeans sounds smart. We both like to stop every hour to stretch and walk around.

My bike came with a set of Corbins and I didn't care for them. I like the firmness but the surface was slick and the shape made me slide forward. I took them to a local auto upholstery shop and had them reworked. The shaved the back of the saddles and built the fronts up about 3/4". We also used a non-slip marine vinyl. After that they are perfect! I can ride for hours on end, and my wife no longer slides into me.

I do like the Corbin seats pans, they are much stronger than the stockers and provide much better support.
 
I bought a TS, took a short ride and returned it. It pushed me against the tank and I couldn't move back. Cost me $75 to return it thru USPS. Perhaps a long would have worker but you loose the return option with it. I ordered a Sargent over a Corbin because of their return policy. Opinions seem pretty evenly divided on which is the most comfortable.
