Graphics Repair

I stopped by Victory Vinyls yesterday after work to get some new Orange vinyl to repair my crash-damage from the trip and they had the reflective orange this time. It looks closer to the bike's paint in the sun, and at night there will be no excuse for not seeing the "TRON" bike now!

Crap cell phone pictures.

Imogene Pass WEST side coming to a ride report near you this afternoon. It is a wild one!

West Side Of Imogene Pass

This one I had to post separately as well as in the day it belongs to.

This is about half way up from Telluride to the Tomboy Mine lower site. The trail became FAR more challenging after this.

WOW Lee, what a great adventure you took me on. My ADD is really bad today so it only took me about 2 1/2 hours to read the whole thing but i really enjoyed it. Are you a journalist ? Your writing reminds me of the great Fred Rua !! Thanks again for sharing and i hope your hip heals fast

Thanks for the compliment. Moto-journalist is my dream job, but sadly no. Just an adventurous hack with an old camera. I am going to go sit at the walk-in clinic on Saturday morning and see if I can get an X-ray to see what I broke off in the fall.

The west is the best

The west side of Corkscrew Pass is the most scenic and steepest. We decended it not long after the rain stopped. Wow what a great ride!!

By the way, that isn't me talking, I was giving a chatty Ewok a ride down the hill, he he.

Little By Little

Tonight I picked up the Oil, Filters, "O" ring and new crush washers as well as a new signal lens to replace the one that I broke in my tumble. The lens is on, my graphics already fixed, my fuel cap lock repaired and the side stand all cleaned and lubed. I repainted my luggage racks and crash bars to erase the scrapes and just a little routine maintenance this weekend and she will be as good as new again.

I have no problem taking the beast out and beating her up a bit, but I do like it to look and run it's best afterward. She will still bear the scars to the fairing in places but they are minor and they were earned in battle so I don't mind so much. I di notice that the bomb-proof skid plate has a good dent in the bottom left side and let me tell you that takes some doing. I honestly doubt that I could do that with a big sledge hammer, and figure it must have happened when I hit the wall of rocks that pitched me off the bike and onto the ground. The skid plate is the one thing that I won't repaint, as it never last through the next outing.

Is this the Vespa you met on Bear Tooth Pass?

A Short Scooterist on a Long Ride: Around the USA by Vespa - ADVrider

Fellow ADVer

It Sure is. Your Google-Foo is better than mine, since I was looking for her report and could not find it. Thanks!

Her Vespa.

That is her in the white helmet and black leather.

This goes to show that it isn't the size of the machine, nor the rider that makes adventure possible. It is the drive inside the rider that determines how far they go! "Groove is in the Heart"

While packing up our gear in Meeker Colorado, both Ian & I heard a weird bird that made a call similar to the strange whistle (that rises and then drops) in the song "Groove is in the heart" just before the chorus. I made a comment about it (thinking I would be the only one that knew this "one-hit-wonder" song) and Ian laughed, telling me he was thinking the same thing (just a different part of the song). It made us both smile and I had the song stuck in my head for hours. Where is a melon-baller when you need one?!

East side of Imogene Pass

After the hair raising and extremely rocky initial descent off the summit (the first 500 yards were easy) I remembered to start filming again. Paul crashed just before the start of this video, but I was running ahead and didn't see it. This section was the easy and scenic descent into Ouray.

Bear Tooth Highway Run!

This is a highway that every enthusiastic motorcyclist should put on thier TO-Do list. Combined with Chief Joseph highway it makes for a fantastic day, and can be done in both directions in an afternoon. A popular base to ride out of is Red Lodge on the Montana side near the base of the north side of the pass. From what I saw it has a wide variety of lodging choices. The Other option is to base out of Cody or Cooke City Wyoming.
