Got a code 48 while riding on Saturday. I read every thread online about the code but am still new to the diagnostic stuff for the FZ1. I watched the video posted on youtube about the sub-throttle plates moving slowly. Mine do this too. I dont have secondary flies in so will it hurt anything to ride? Does the bike go into diagnostic mode, a limp mode, or a general map when the CEL is on? Im pretty sure all my connections are secure.

Any help?

Thanks,

Matt

I don't think so. There have been others with that code. It's telling you the servo that controls the secondary butterflys is not operating properly. It is definitely rideable. Others have had that same code and run tens of thousand miles without ever mentioning any power difference.

The CEL on all the time would annoy me.

It hasn't been on the last 2 times I've been out on the bike. But I was in town and not on the throttle much. The light being on will annoy me. Is replacing the servo motor my only option?

Thanks

Matt

As far as my experience is, yes.
I have lived with it for over a yr with no other issues. When you find out how much a new 1 is, you'll wait for a used 1.

Yeah my linkage was goofed up and wasnt moving the fly rod correctly. I fixed it and am back on the road. Thanks guys.
