This morning I rode my Gen 1 for about 10 min, let it parked for about 2 hours and then started her back up. During my first ride the clock was fine, when I started her up the second time it had reset back to 1am.

Is this just a fluke? Has anyone else experienced this?

How's your battery? you may also notice the trips reset too.

Good question. I have not had it tested. I bought the bike about a month ago. Never had any issues starting up or anything to indicate a problem until now, and the weird part is the clock was correct when I first started up the bike this morning and then incorrect on the second start up. If the battery was going I would make the assumption that the clock would be off after sitting all weekend.

I ride the bike to work 4 days a week, so it normally sits in the Garage Friday afternoon to Tuesday morning.

I will take the battery in and get it tested, and check the trip settings when I head home today.

A loose battery connection may have lost continuity just long enough to reset the clock but still ge good enough to start the bike so I'd check my hot and ground sides of the battery connections well and that includes your main fuse holder.

That's a good one Max! Had me laughing here. As Lonerider said, and I think he is "spot on", that a simple loose ground connection can be just loose enough that something like the clock will reset, yet be tight enough that won't prohibit the bike from starting. I know it's time consuming but if you have, or can get a hold of the wiring diagram, and just take some time to go through each ground point to make sure each point is clean and tight, may just fix the issue. Electrical gremlins can be the worst kind of issue to have with these bikes with all the electronics on board. I hope you figure it out.

well, the Trip Meter was reset as well, but everything held all the way home, so I will have to get to checking for those loose connections now....

Just went though the same thing only bike would also not turn over. I pulled the starter relay as well as starter circuit cut off relay, cleaned connections and applied dielectric grease to everything and no problems since. This started with clock resetting then progressed into clock resetting with a no start issue.
So far all good now.

Thanks for the heads up, I will keep an eye on that. So far it has only happened to me once in the nearly 800 miles I have ridden her since I picked her up.

Big +1 on that.

While you are in there, instead of just tightening take the terminal wires off the posts and makes sure they're good and clean. Battery terminal protector, and notch 'em back down nice & snug. The battery sounds like it has enough juice on it, just needs a little preventative maintenance lovin'!

Hi. It happened to my bike also. The clock and trips reset and didn't start. I disassembled the starter, have it cleaned (including brushes), put it back and no problems after that.

Hello all, thanks for the posts. This is my first post on this forum so sorry to pull up a slightly older thread, but I am having the same problem with a twist. This happened gradually but now it seems to happen all the time. My starter will crank for about 3 seconds then hit a "hard stop" where it just stops cranking and the gauges reset and a child cries. I can hear the ignition relay clicking, it just seems to stop dead in its tracks. I will hit the starter button again and it will either crank just fine or hit a hard stop right away. Eventually the bike will crank (one time I hit the starter button 10 times and nothing, but just that once) but all of the gauges have reset each time the starter stalls. This whole problem only happens after the bike has been sitting for the day (6+ hours or so) and if I turn off the ignition right after the bike turns over it will work just fine.

I have cleaned/dielectric greased the connections on the ignition relay and in the white harness below the tank and still nothing. Battery voltage shows around 12.8 and the charging system brings it up to about 13.5 or so when running. I have no idea what to do next and I fear that if I have to take it somewhere I am going to get creamed for diagnostic cost. I really appreciate any help in advance and thanks.
