Chain and sprocket kit

@T84A no not really. I just wanted to get others opinions on the set up. Basically what they thought of the gearing, sprockets and the chain. I still plan on using it and getting my use out of it.
@stretched06 I really wanted the chain in Silver to go with the bike but they wanted 30 bux more. I just couldn't see spending an extra 30 bux just for the color change.

16/48 would be a nice setup, a little quicker on the acceleration but not too much more over stock. I had 15/44 on my bike with the 530 chain which was quite good, however, I just upgraded to 15/48 with the 520 setup and I love it. Very quick acceleration when you want it. The revs can be a little high sometimes (looking for 7th at times) but you get use to it really quickly.

Yama, what would you suggest to use for the best acceleration?

I guess it all depends on what you are looking for and how you ride. The set up I have, 15/48, is great for acceleration and not that bad for longer rides. However if you do a lot of highway driving, most of mine is short rides, I think the 15/44 was better on the long runs.
With 15/48 it is quite easy to do roll on wheelies in 1st and 2nd, so I am told. But you can still accelerate and keep the tire down with a little throttle work, in other words don't pin it right off the bat.

Hope that helps a little.

You guys talking about gearing in here have to pay attention to who has what bike.

The Gen1's run different gearing than the Gen2. What I am getting at is Sevinski should not be taking yamafz1's gearing as what he should do as the Gen2 using that gearing would be WAYYYYYY steep. Nothing against you at all yamafz1!

Just a heads up!

16/48 on a Gen2 is very steep just for the record. Sevinsky, if you are curious about it just get the 16T Front, run that for a bit and see how you like it. If you want more (Which you wont) then you can do more later. I personally took my 16T out and went back to a 17T as the highway was just revving too much at 80mph with the 16T.

Stock is 16/44, I ran 15/47 for 4 years and just found it too low for the amount of highway commuting that I do. I am now running 16/45 and it is great.
This bike has tons of torque anyways so I personally do not feel that I am losing much in the city by gearing up.
Also mileage is up. I ride about 100km a day and fuel consumaption is about 5 bucks less a week, not a big difference but just something I noticed. Also I am thinking that rear tire wear will be better with the 16/45

I do nothing but sport-touring on my Gen II (my 'fast'/Casey Stoner' riding is left for my track bike!) and when I change gearing I 'may' drop a few teeth in the rear. Can anyone tell me if I drop 2-4 teeth, in the rear, how many rpm will I drop at 70!

AND....who makes the stock Yam chain that came with the bike? I've got 22K on the bike and it is fine. Yes, I've had it at a track day + the drag strip + had alot of fun w//it between 7-12 on the track.
