I friend of mine was telling me the other day that my bike needs the cams done @ 12k... Anyone know if this is true, I just rolled 10k yesterday, if so I don't want to make a mistake and not get it done. Thanks.

I just rolled over 40,000 miles.... many others have over 100k... cams don't need to be done at any point.

If that bike is running great, just change the oil. Mine is approaching 56k miles and not touched even the valves. Runs like 10 times smoother now than new. I should add that the only oil I've used is the diesel stuff and now the amsoil synthetic. May have something to do with it, but I suspect it's just Yam engineering.

Maybe he used the wrong terminology and was referring to adjusting the valves...in that case you're good to 26k miles before you have to check them. And more than likely they wont need any adjusting.
