I've had a little time on my hands and have been looking at camera mounts and locations. I'm looking for a base to use with the self leveling gimbal I've almost completed. I came across this site that had examples of where their mount could work.

I didn't watch the videos so I don't know how stable it would be with a go pro or other small lightweight camera.

I don't like #1's location. I would be dragging that thing in a heartbeat. #2 looks better.

I'm looking into mounting my Contour on a extra radiator cover somehow. I've used the 3M sticky tape mounts in that location with good results. Only issue was that its so hot in the summer and with the engine heat the tape got too gooey and fell off sitting in the pits at a track day. Looking for a permanent mount to an extra rad cover.

I've used the fairing mounting bolt and it does transfer some vibration, but it's not too bad. I've also refitted one of my mirror block-off plates to hold my Contour Roam HD camera and it shows more vibration in the resulting video. The other spot I've placed a camera is on the pillion seat facing the rear. I like those videos, mostly because there is little vibration, and I'm often leading a group, so I can see them behind me.

Here are a couple of videos to show the results:
Left Fairing Mount: Wykoff Run 3 - YouTube
Rear-facing Mount: Motorcycle Rear Brake Lock - YouTube

It seems I don't have a block-off plate video uploaded to youtube. I'll have to remedy that soon.
