I have a totally stock 2009 FZ1, less than 1,000 miles, purchased and licensed in Oregon (see classifieds for a great deal!).

I have a potential buyer located in California.

Is anybody aware of any fun, extra-special requirements in California that would complicate his registration and licensing of my Oregon bike?

I know this is occasionally an issue with some dirt bikes (49-State vs. 50-State versions), but don't believe there is an issue with the FZ1.

Hate to see him turned away at the DMV!

I just purchased a bike here in California that is registered in Florida, I am a AAA member so I did the registration and got the license plat instantly, paid sales tax & received my new title in the mail.
make sure you give the buyer the old registration with title & tell him the lower he claims the price of the bike the lower tax he'll pay.
AAA make it so easy with no DMV waiting.
 
If I am not mistaken, a previously owned out of state motorcycle, cannot be registered in CA if it has less than 7500 miles on the odometer. Either you or the buyer need to be certain of this requirement before you act, or someone is going to be sorry.

This is only if the vehicle does not meet california emissions standards.

As the FZ1 is 50 state compatible, I don't believe the 7500 mile rule applies. I could be wrong though- I might call DMV to make sure.
