I decided to service my EXUP today and low and behold when I went to loosen the last allen bolt holding it in it snapped guess I will drill it out and tap in a m8 bolt. Is this a common problem and what are you doing so this does not happen again use anti seize compound?

yes it's a common problem.

anti seize will help, but stainless bolts WILL NOT

stainless bolts seize by themselves when torqued in anything other then aluminium without anti-seize

Using anti seize has worked well for me. Another option would be to change to stainless hardware.

I had the same issue with my YZF1000 (same EXUP valve as the Gen I FZ1). Drilled and tapped it for the next biggest size and then used ss hardware with some anti-seize. No issues since.

yes, no problem with anti-seize , big problem without

this applies to all stainless bolts and nuts, if you torque them good they will get stuck, and the exhaust is all stainless
