Be aware of this Garmin accessary

I bought this Garmin direct wire accessary Garmin Direct Wire Cable Gilsson GUSB5V-B -
only to find out that when used with m Nuvi 255 and several other Nuvi models, it causes the garmin to think it connected to a PC and it will go into the charge mode and won't give you any actual navigation until it's unpluggd. When you get it, there is a little paper in the package informing the customer of the firmware problem. Nothing on the website informs the customer of the problem.

So, you only charge the unit with this when not on the move or something? What's the point?

I bought a different cable (USB port) and it does the same thing. After 90 seconds mine goes into map mode. It's a bit of a pain but you might try that if you haven't already.
