I'm debating doing the mods on my 08 fz1..... I just don't know if its going to be worth it, when I modded my old drz it completely changed the bike from a granny scooter to a race ready track bike. But I can't see these mods being that effective.... I know there is a bunch and I have the means to do all of them, but a pc3 and slip on are outa the question, for now. So what kind of gains can I expect from these mods, here is where I'm getting my info.

The PCIII and slip-on are sorta the glue that brings all the other mods together. Without them, you may have a little more power but you may even get a less smooth throttle response.

To get an idea of how much power each mod is worth, check out Ivan's FZ1 page (LINK). A couple things to note when looking at these dyno charts. The addition of a slip-on and PCIII give the biggest single gain of any of the dyno charts,,,Note the almost 30hp gain at 7450 RPM on the bottom chart when ALL of the mods are compared to the stock dyno run. Thats a sizable gain right in the meat of where we ride our bikes when riding "sporty".

Actually that final comparison is with a Slipon rather than a full exhaust system. The difference is even greater with a quality header. . .
This bike's intake and exhaust systems come majorly corked up from the factory. Snatch from decel fuel cut is painful apparent (most strongly so on the early bikes) and overall fuel "mapping" is less than ideal. The MODs absolutely transform the bike!

Missy its no trick question...for the street, the only video i saw that did much to performance was the exhaust video....If you can get 150 hp out the rear wheel of these bikes, you have maxed out the liter bikes potential on the FZ1 in my opinion.....All that takes is a full header system with a decent slip-on along with a pc 111 and have it customed mapped.....(((Thats It)))....You can do the airbox mods and gain a little, but its not enough to mess with...The stock setup on the carbs and airflow is more than adequate on these bikes...

We are talking GenII right? (fuel injection, no carbs) Are we watching videos or riding actual bikes with a "package" of mods for this assessment? A final HP rating doesn't say much about smooth linear power delivery or power in areas where you spend most of your time riding

Performance is limited on this bike in a number of areas, including the exhaust and intake tract. Making improvements in one area and not the other doesn't yield a complete result. Also, adjusting the stock fueling curve (Power Commander), taking care of the decel fuel cut (FCE) and optimizing the ignition specs (Ignition module) all add to the "package". As a bonus, having a few (free or part of the package from Ivan) pre sorted PC maps for a particular set of mods that other's have tested is also useful.

Yea I was talking the Gen 11 models....the air on my bike is stock excluding a K&N Drop in Filter...after complete Titanium Micron Serpent Header System, PC II with custom map...I have exactly 149.7 hp at the rear wheel....
