Antilock brakes

FZ1 Fazer / ABS 2013 - Motorcycles - Yamaha Motor Europe

ABS is a must have for my next bike purchase. I understand that US spec bikes do not have ABS yet. The European FZ1s do.

Has anyone successfully retrofitted?

I am new here, this might not be posted in the right place. Moderators feel free to move. I did do a search on antilock brakes and surpisingly almost nothing came up.

Is the FJR1300 the only bike with ABS in the US?

I believe a lot of the 2012 superbikes have been coming with ABS, this includes the R1. I'm not sure if any other Yamahas besides the aforementioned FJR and R1 have ABS. Maybe some cruisers?

Lots of Suzukis and new Kawis have been including ABS. BMW & Harley have been doing it for quite a while, too.

Edit: I was wrong about the R1; it's traction control they added, not ABS.

ABS is just starting to make it's way to the US on Japanese bikes. Even then, it's usually an option that can be hard to find. I think Honda has been bringing more ABS than most, but I could be wrong. I'm not sure if the Yamaha Super Tenere has ABS. I know you can get ABS on the Ninja 300 and the CBR 250. :hook2:
