AIS plugging

Waiting on my AIS block off plates. I have plugged the hose. My concern is the air pump will be sucking like mad. Can this cause overheating in the pump?

I wouldn't worry about it, not like it is that strong of a pump. If you could get to the wires you could always just unplug it. Will have to unplug it to remove it anyway.

Thanks, can't get to the connector from the top and don't want to drop the radiator twice. Just don't want to be a dumb barstard and start a fire or blow a major fuse and get stuck somewhere.

rode mine for a few months with just the hose plugged. I didn't have a problem.

Am I missing some info here? If you pull the hose's off to install block off plate's, then your about done other than unplugging and taping that off. Pull all that Crap off, get it outa the way. I just done mine, have about 1K miles on it now with no problem of Pop pop Pop.

3 little allen's and that radiator is outa the way, DO IT.

I just installed my block offs over the weekend. That is crazy without a low profile tool to get the allens out. I should have gotten the tool they suggested in the AIS thread. Live and learn I guess.

I used a small rachet with diver bit, but ya she's tight. So didja rip all that crap off and give it a good throw ?

I definitely ripped it off and I just stared at it in disgust. I wish I would have gotten the rachet, it would have been much easier. No matter, it is all done now, and they will never come off.

Ran mine for 3 years with only the hose blocked. No issues. When I did my first plug replacement and coolant change, I simply removed the radiator completely, did all my work and re-installed the radiator and filled the system. Made the job easy and yes, I did buy the small ratcheting tool with the bits and the job was a no-hassle task.

Question. I just installed a slip on and decided to plug the AIS hose at the air cleaner housing. On deceleration my bike still pops?

Yes mines the same. Still popping. Spent all my time and energy installing PCV and Autotune, got lazy and left the block off plates till later. Now its still popping with the hose blocked. Someone telling me not to be lazy?

I had the same and occasionally it would let out an ungodly back fire.
I ended up unblocking it and I live with the popping on decel.
I think it suits my naked bikes nature.

I'm a bit worried about blowing the carbon apart on my muffler.

If it back fires then maybe but popping is nothing to be worried about.
I've had my Akra carbon for 2 years and it's survived the popping easily.
My mate reckons flames come out the back occasionally on decel. (I also have Arrow headers)

Using block off plates or plugging the AIS hose should yield the same results. In other words, if you have popping with AIS hose plugged you will have popping with block off plates installed. Unless you plugged wrong hose or didn't plug it fully.

As far as the AIS pump burning up. I don't believe it is an actual pump. It is listed in the parts catalogue as a valve. A valve would just open and close to allow fresh air to enter exhaust stream through vacuum.
