AIS Bung

Afternoon all,

In a couple of weeks my fazer is off to the garage to be dyno'd and set up properly by a dynojet approved specialist...

My bike isn't fitted with the bung over the ais in the airbox. Will this be a problem? If so, what's the easiest way to bung it?

Thanks

Are you saying that your AIS is still functioning like it did from the factory. In that case you may very well want to plug it (or remove it) before the dyno session.

Couple of threads on here discuss how to do this:

The bike pops like crazy (which I don't mind) and my mate has left it open. Is the AIS the sensor?

I've read it can be bunged to stop the popping... Thanks for the links, I'll check them asap

The popping is because the AIS (Air Injection System) system injects fresh air into the exhaust to complete combustion. That is the popping that you're hearing. It doesn't harm anything, but it's may not be beneficial to have extra air going into the exhaust when dyno tuning the bike. You can plug the hose that goes into the bottom of the the airbox and that will stop the popping since the AIS system wont be able to draw in fresh air.

The dyno tuner will most probably use a set of long nose vice grip pliers (or similar) to pinch the AIS hose while tuning so it won't be a problem.
