Air Bags can hurt

As I was on my home from a job, yesterday, I spotted a cop car chasing a POS Sunfire.

My initial reaction was to pull to the right and let em fly through...but the Sunfire passes me on the right hand shoulder and stays half a car length ahead and the police cruiser on my left rear corner.

I then let go of the accelerator and the Sunfire matches my speed for 5-10 secs and then decides to try and push me into the police cruiser.
As my vehicle is slightly heavier and bigger in size, the impact tore his front wheel right off the studs and bent the chassis.

My only injury was getting slammed in the chest by the airbag and he was rushed to hospital with back pains and a police escort.

I'm popping morphine to numb the pain, so I can breath normally, w/out suffering excruciating pain.... THANX A-HOLE!

I was informed this AM that he was fleeing a convenience store for robbing them of a 30-pack of beer and that he did not even have a valid driver's license!

What I am most pissed about is that I cannot ride for the next week or so.:banghead:

With winter taking it's sweet time to leave and now this. :(

I've heard they can hurt pretty bad. I've never had one blow. Even on my dodge when the front axle was removed this winter.

My Grandma had someone hit her about 10 years ago and the impact from the air bag made her lose her sight for about 20 minutes. She ended up ok but its still gotta hurt like hell.

Glad you are ok. Jackass did all that for beer he didn't even get to drink...
 
Wow really glad you're okay. That's quite the experience though that you can say you helped stop a police chase.
I'm sorry to hear you got hurt though. Glad it wasn't worse. I've been hit by an air bag when some new 16 year old pot head kid driver hit us in an intersection when he turned in front of us. Air bags do hurt like hell!

The tiny blond female officer that you see in the pics, was the one who was in the pursuing cruiser and ended up making the arrest. She was thankful that I had disabled the dumb-ass' heap but was very apologetic for my involuntary involvement.
 
Boy, some guys will do anything for excitement! Sure glad your car took one for the team and not your bike! Sounds like you'll be back in the saddle again soon. Any chance the dirtbag had insurance, or do you have to pay for your own damage?

At least you wont be off the road for too long,the weather wont be "rider friendly" for the next few days anyways,at least you not losing those...

La cause de la poursuite est la caisse de biere, mais apres avoir communiquer avec d'autres corps policier, y'etais rechercher pour vol d'essence, aussi. Ils on faillit le mettre dans la meme ambulance que moi....ca aurait ete beau, la dedans!:spank2::spank2:

We have a no fault insurance system. I am covered, even if he has no insurance.
He technically has no coverage, since his license was already suspended and was not supposed to be behind the wheel.
He totaled his dad's car in the process....daddy must be proud! From what I heard, the apple hadn't fallen far from the tree...
 
Recovery has been long and painful.

The weather has sucked ever since the accident, so temptation to go for a ride was on the low end of the scale....but today and tomorrow it will be perfect springtime riding weather, and I have to sit it out:tdown:

I definitely know how you feel. It will come, the important thing is to get healthy.
