AFR Guages

I have been checking into using an AFR meter to keep an eye on my fuel mixture if I go to a pipe/new air cleaner. I know that several members have already done the pipe thing and usually also added a PCIII to correct their AFR. I have also noticed that at least a few have mentioned less than good fuel mileage after the fact. Although a rich mixture is far better than a lean one I'd like to make sure my AFR is as good as I can make it and only having an on-board AFR is going to insure that. For about $250 there are several available and I was wondering if anyone went that route to keep track of how well their fueling is going? A fouled plug is just a nuisance, a burned piston is a whole other issue, which I've had out on the road. I put a hole in the middle of a piston on I-75 in the middle of nowhere and waited for the state boys to rescue me. I know now that a lean mixture caused it and we now have the equipent to prevent the same thing from happening gain.
