2016 MotoGP Discussion Thread *SPOILERS*

Catalunya race week! Some contract announcements were made today, including Marquez signing 2 more years with Honda and Pol Espargaro joining Bradley Smith at KTM.

Looking forward to the race :)

Should be a good race.

It will be interesting to see where Rins ends up now. Tech 3 has a vacancy and Aleix is expected to stay at Suzuki (It's what the factory want - a consistent rider for testing/development). Although the Suzuki team boss wants Rins... could be interesting.

Next is to see where Cal ends up with Jack at MVDS or on LCR, if LCR pick up Suzuki, I expect Cal to move to MVDS. That would let Aleix move to LCR and Rins onto the factory Suzuki.... the tetris pieces are starting to fill out, but there's a few that still need shuffling and rotating.

This weekends race should be good, Vale will want revenge, but the Spaniards will all want hometown wins.

Also Yamaha confirmed the engines blew from over revving on the straight at Mugello. They'll be changing their electronics now I think.

Iannone to start at the back of the grid for Assen. I hope he learns his lesson. Regardless, it's anyone's championship still. Very close!

Great riding from Maverick, he's going to be a force to be reckoned with on a Yamaha. Excellent result for Aprilia this weekend and great to see them with one guy in the top 10. Laverty showing his skill again, having not finished out of the points for the entire season so far.

Good racing this weekend.
Rossi certainly found something in the warm up and rode an excellent race to take the win.
Lorenzo was torpedoed by that idiot Iannone, no wonder they are dumping him at Ducati.
Great to see Miller finally finish a race in the points.
It's a very exciting Championship this year and is anyones to win; Bring on Assen!!

Rossi is looking pretty darn fast this year ! He's had a bit of bad luck but his pace seems a bit better overall this year. I had a feeling he would do better than most with the New less intrusive ECU.

Looks like the changes to the electronics and Tires really have evened up the field a bit. Maverick could of been on podium if he had a bit more patience and waited for a better opportunity to pass Pedrosa.

Has ianonne made a statement about what he thought happened? That was insane.... He just about endo'd before he hit Lorenzo.

It would be interesting to know if Lorenzo had over slowed or if Ianonne really was in there too hot. It happened so fast it was hard to tell if Iannone had a chance to go to the outside of Jorge.

Sunday MotoGP Summary at Catalunya

The Black Sheep

With Rossi winning, Márquez in second, and Lorenzo struggling with his tires, the championship would have tightened up considerably. But Andrea Iannone taking Lorenzo out in Turn 10 made a much bigger difference.

Iannone was penalized for the incident, and will have to start from the back of the grid at Assen. Viewed in isolation, that is a rather harsh punishment for what was basically a silly mistake, but given Iannone’s previous incidents this year, especially in taking out his teammate in Argentina, Race Direction imposed a stiffer penalty upon him.
It was not stiff enough for some people. Unsurprisingly and understandably, Jorge Lorenzo said he felt Iannone deserved a race ban. Not so much for the incident, as to teach Iannone a lesson.
“In soccer, you get a red card,” he told reporters. He referred once again back to his own race ban back in the 250GP days, which gave him time to think and consider his crimes. That would be the only lesson which might actually sink in.

What had irked Lorenzo the most was that the first thing that Iannone had said to him after the crash was to ask if there had been some kind of problem with Lorenzo’s bike. He had not expected Lorenzo to brake the way he did, and so he found himself closing too quickly.

That was why Iannone felt he had done nothing wrong, the Italian saying he had braked at precisely the same point as in previous laps.

It would be interesting to know if Lorenzo had over slowed or if Ianonne really was in there too hot. It happened so fast it was hard to tell if Iannone had a chance to go to the outside of Jorge.
It's up to the rider behind not to hit the rider in front is it not? If you run up someone's arse on the road, who's fault is it?
