2013 Xmas Gift Thread

Cool. Short wave?

It's a "Ham Radio" actually. While it does pick up all the short wave frequencies, it's made for talking around the world. It's been my hobby since I was 14 years old. It took me 4 years to get this particular rig. Well worth the wait. It's pretty insane when it comes to performance.

Very cool Billy.

It's funny, as much as I chat on forums I wouldn't know what to say on a radio. What do you say???

Here's my Christmas gift. The best one I've gotten in a long while! My brand new Yaesu FT-950 HF Rig. She's a beauty with tons of bells and whistles. I've already made over 200 contacts with it!

Well Pete, once you get the formalities out of the way, Callsigns, Signal Reports, then it's just general conversations, what kind of rig they have, what antenna are they using, etc. It's a wonderful hobby, for me anyway.

Hey Lonney, I'd have to say that my furthest contact to date would be the middle of Russia, over 7,000 miles away. That was pretty awesome!

Lucky Christmas for me. I got the Leaf jersey I asked for, some cash, a gift certificate for a 1hr massage, a little booze, and some other nice things. First Christmas with baby, though, so he's the one getting spoiled. My living room looks like the epicentre of a Fisher Price bomb!

A little Cheer

A little Pickling Juice.

I also was given the complete Spanish Rosetta Stone Así que vamos a ver cómo funciona.
And the South America on a Budget book for planning purposes.

Some members of the family were easier to please.

Way to sneak that in at the end! First baby? In any case, a brand new life really makes you think about what's truly important. I wish health and happiness to your new baby boy. If he's half as fun and amazing as my 8 month old Max you're truly blessed. Merry Christmas to your family and congratulations to your great news!
