2002 dodge durango ?

Its the crank sensor. It also had a code for a vacuum leak (probley the piece that was blown apart). last was a engine speed sensor but its says to check other codes first and that one of the problems for this code could be a crank position sensor.
Now to get a price on the new cps.

I don't know much about Dodge but I always buy OEM parts for Japanese cars. In my experience, they are far better quality & at not much additional cost if you shop smart. The only time I don't is if I'm desperate to get it fixed or I want more performance

It sure is. Auto Zone has one for $31.99 do you think oem would be better than the one at the parts store.

Just a word of caution when it comes to Crank Sensors and MAF Sensors. No it may be different from GM stuff, but OEM Mopar stuff is the way to go. Not saying you have to buy from a dealer, cause that would be silly, but do look on Ebay for some Mopar Crank Sensors. You won't be sorry. I have heard too many horror stories about aftermarket sensors.

So I changed the crank position and it ran good for about 20min.and about a mile down the road it stalled. I then got code P0725. So I erased the codes ot started back up ran for 10minutes then gave codes- P0725- engine speed sensor circuit malfunction. P0442- evaporative emission system leak detected(small leak) and P0455- evaporative emission system leak detected (gross leak/no flow). I an not sure what to do now. any help please?

According to the Dodge Forums, it looks like the Camshaft Position Sensor and Crank Sensor usually go hand in hand. One guy had the same exact issue. He changed the Crank Sensor and same deal, it ran for 10 minutes great and then died. He then did the Cam Sensor and the issue hasn't come back since. Just a thought.

Bah, what a pain in the ass. Best of luck fixing everything

I know bud! Friggin new fangled computer controlled cars SUCK!!! I guess since the manufacturers now made engines to easily surpass the 200K mark, they had to make up for the loss of repair money some other way! So what better way than to put 40 friggin sensors all over the engine bay!! UGH!!!

I changed the cam sensor today. I found a fuel vent hose was split on the charcol canister and that took care of the two codes. after the cam sensor I got codes for engine miss. I just changed the plugs. time for a test drive to see if it will get any more codes.
THAKNS FOR THE HELP!

Check out this pic of my air box Dustin.:poke: lol

Haha! So far its went 20 miles without a code. I will give it about a hour and take it for another ride. If it gets the same code again i think it could only be a sensor on the tranny. I just want to be done with it. lol

I went another 10 miles still no codes. It may be fixed.
thanks everyone for you help. I would have never guessed it was sensors making it do that.

Its smoother and stronger than its been in a long time. I had put copper core in it this time and they seem better tham the iridumns I had in it. I will drive it more today befor I tell Samantha her car is fixed.

So after all this I found a tip that I wanted to share. On a 2000 and newer durango and probley most other dodge if you turn the key on, off, on, off, on - and in a few seconds the codes will come in to the window for the miles.
