1981 kz 550 custom

I agree I picked up a my 86 GSXR 750 for $1500 and have a blast riding it but its a tinker toy not a dependable rider.

Yea, that's why I keep the FZ1. It handles good and I don't ever really have to worry about it leaving me stranded...can't really say the same about my other bikes (although none have ever technically ever left me stranded).

Personally I think $1,500 is way too much money for a bike that old. That was the era that I grew up riding and the LTDs were not considered a very good bike. As others have mentioned, the brakes are terrible, the suspension is terrible, the frames flex like a bowl of noodles, and the motor might make 50hp on a good day. The electronics is fickle, and at that age it MIGHT have points and a condenser.

This bike should really be $500 to $800, but the current "Rat Rod", "Cafe Racer" BS craze has made lots of people, a lot of money on old, dead bikes.

If you can keep your FZ, keep it, as I think the LTD will become a money pit.
