    Gen II oil light on.

Easy there Dicko. Didnt say you said to add more oil. Another poster in fact did. However i still do not agree about your cold oil theory. Ive ridden in 20* temps and never saw an oil light. Those that do may have a bad part, includeing your self. Could be a bad batch of oil level senders.

    Gen II oil light on.

Sorry Bluey. I just go on the info the op gives. He said the site glass was full. He also said he held the bike up while checking. To tell him to add even more oil and make sure the bike is held straight is just bad info. Im not saying anyone is telling him to over fill his sump. People should...

Clunk when shifting into first/clutch noise

Really? Ive survived this sport for 31 years and counting. If you dont want to take advice from an old dog that has experienced wany different things than dont. I will not however take advice from someone that quotes Mr. Spock and thinks thats cool. Lol. Live long and prosper my foolish friend.

    Gen II oil light on.

The op already stated the oil site glass was full of oil. Adding more oil could do more harm than good. Even if adding more oil turned the light off, it could be masking a more serious problem. Since the op lives in California, which is quite warm this time of year, i hardly think the cold...

    Low rpm spitting/stuttering

Guess what ? Totally normal. This bike has huge intake tracts that require a lot of fuel down low to run smooth. Unfortunately most tuners, even the manufacturer have this bike way ttoo lean down low. So that sputter you have from 3000 and below is normal. An ecu flash or a dyno tune may help...

05 fz1 dry clutch basket and plates!! What mods fix this??

Dude. Your clutch is not slipping. When a clutch slips the revs will shoot to the moon. There is no little bit of slip. Its all or nothing. Learn your motorcycle and learn how to ride. That will solve your problem.

How important is warming up the engine?

Where i work we have a fleet of 25 cars. Dead of winter. We start them and redline the shit out of them doing donuts smoking the shit out of the cold tires. Yes i have a fun job. In the 11 years I have been there, never once. Not at all. Have we ever had an oil related engine failure or any...

    Chain Lube

Really? Did you ever take a long ride and touch your chain afterwards? Wow. Its really hot! No it isnt. As a matter of fact its barely warm. Why? Because modern chains dont have much friction at all. The rollers and internal grease prevent that. With all that friction that you are trying to...

    Bike pulling left - FZ1N

If you are referring to chain slack I would tend to disagree. Chain slack should have no bearing on whether a bike will pull to one side. If you mean that the rear tire may not be centered in the swing arm, yes that can definately cause your bike not to track straight. However. I stick to my...

    Chain Lube

You absolutely do not have to waste money on special motorcycle chain lubes for an o-ring chain. It has self contained lubricant. If its dirty, clean with a little kerosene on a rag and wipe it down with a little clean engine oil to prevent th links from rusting. Thats it you're, done.

How many members have an FZ1 ?

There is a reason for that. The FZ1 is an old dog. There is nothing new to learn. Ivans flash is the newest mod and even thats a few years old. Im sorry to break the news to you bro, but this forum is dying. I come on here every couple of months and its the same old crap. Oil threads, gas...

How many members have an FZ1 ?

These types of posts are so boring and mundane. I would think just about every one on this forum owns an FZ1 and puts miles on it. So what's the point, really?

Clunk when shifting into first/clutch noise

Great idea, until your clutch cable snaps, shooting you in to on comming traffic. Oh well. Live and learn.

    Bike pulling left - FZ1N

Perfectly normal. Every bike i have ever owned pulled one way or the other with hands off the bars. Bottom line. Motorcycles are ment to be ridden with hands on the bars. Sure. Many will relpy that their bike doesnt pull, and that may be true. Every bike is different. Don't chase ghosts. Enjoy...

    Exhaust gaskets

The fact that grease doesn't dry is a good thing. You don't want anything to dry between the gasket and it's mating surface. Anything left to dry between the gasket and the head will eventually burn off and could possibly cause leaks.

    Exhaust gaskets

Wow. Am I the only old school guy here? Good old fashion grease. Will not affect the seal and will burn away with time. Any silicone that is left to dry will eventually burn away and create a leak. Ultra copper is also a good idea, if you have it available.

    Would you buy it?

Don't do it. As a rule of thumb. Don't buy first year anything. We all should have learned our lesson with the FZ1. My brother bought the first year Jeep Cherokee. I warned him against it. He didn't listen. Has been back and forth to the dealer with a problem they can not fix. He's pissed. Took...

    Smoothing out power delivery

Normally I would agree with you. However the FZ1 has been around for so long that the maps available have been tried over and over and over again and have been proven reliable with positive performance gains. Of course a dyno tune will be able to fine tune the map, but very often is not necessary.

    Bad vibration

I wish it were that simple. The fact that I can pull in the clutch and the vibes go away rules out any tire vibration. It's not much of a problem any more. The grip puppies and vibranator took care of most of it. I am of the mindset, ride more worry less. I am done chasing ghosts on this bike...
