The 09 could be a great ST machine once set up with a Touring screen from MRA by example and I'm sure Givi will come up with bags for it soon. Only thing is the 3.5 gals fuel tank... I got 47 MPG once @ 70 MPH. That was good for 140... 150 miles range pushing the reserve a bit. Good enough I...
I do agree with you, the dash/headlight area look unfinished. I'm waiting to see what's available as far as fly screen. There's a few out there but nothing that fit the bike at 100% IMO. The taillight blend much better once you fix the FE (previous post) That was the first mod I did within 24hrs...
Most than likely the battery is shut. My FZ6R was doing the same thing before I change it. It takes a lot of juice to crank an engine and if the battery get under a certain voltage the ECu won't like it. 9V or so on a FAtlantic by example...
Next time it happen... bum start your bike. I got me...
Forgot to mention... the shock is about 5mm longer. All extra sag.
Also I just cut the unsprung mass by 60% (or so)
The FZ09 has the shock body bolted to the swingarm side for easy preload adjustment I guess. This one is on the chassis.
Great $65.00 update.

Oh ya! It fit!
OEM shock with preload 3/7 had no free sag and with me about 28mm. Spring rate is 550 lb/in. Reb adjuster only... all the way close. Ride was really harsh but I had to keep the preload like that so the bike doesn't squat too much under acceleration. Bumpy road were not fun and...
Stiffer spring for sure. Heavier oil should give me a bit more damping. Someone already test it and it was an improvement. The fork have very little damping in bump and going up in weight seems to help a bit.
As suggested 10W if you ride smooth rode mostly, 7.5W if iys a bit more bumpy. But I...
I can't tell much about the FZ1 (unfortunately) but the 09 is a sweet ride. It all come down on what you need and what you will be using the bike for. Just to bang around town, short commute and ripping twisties under 100 MPH on one wheel (first 3 gears), the FZ-09 is for you.
If you need to...
My wife sat on one at the AIM show in Orlando. The bike remind me of a mid 80s naked ride. That won't be a great success for sure.

I will put it to 20-25 and if it end up settling to 30 again, well that would be the happy number! LOL I will keep a close eye on it for a while for sure.

Not sure I want to rely 100% of what the dealer might says... most of them go by the book and thats it. But I will call them tomorrow and address the issue. The bike is quite new and Im sure some issue will pop here and there. For now I will use 20-25mm until Yamaha look into it. I rather change...
Thanks for the advise. I will start at 20mm and go from there. Not like those imagineers know everything...lol We buy those bike then still need to sort them out for them. :)

I will try that. I'm at 5/7 on preload and weigh 175lbs. It doesn't travel much but will double check for sure. FZ8 use 525 also... I guess it should be fine.

Hey everyone. I need your opinion here on my chain adjustment since most of you have been around bike for quite some time.
Chain specs on the 09 is 5-15mm. Yep! Coming from the 6R with 1 3/4" to 2" it is quite a shock...lol
When I got the bike I was like WTF! Then after a call at the...
Should I be happy or desapointed? I was hoping for better gain at peak HP. But on the other hand the torque gain at mid range is quite impressive. That bike never been built for peak HP anyway... The flat HP peak HP might be because the ride by wire limit or shut the throttle a bit... WTF? Flash...
