Need some advice, think I've made a mistake

I'm on the light side too, but heavier at 150lbs. I'd get a copy of the owners manual and return the front to stock settings. Then set it softer from there - this is very plainly explained in the manual. I needed to back off the preload setting by one ring and went 2 clicks softer with each...

What did you do to your Non-FZ1 motorcycle today.

I've had much better luck with left handed drill bits and it's game over if you break off an extractor in the broken bolt. Helicoils have saved me more than once!

    Helmet holder / lock

Have seen that before, some time ago on this site I believe. My parts guy can't find it either. But that would be ideal if you could find/get it. Even more ideal would be if you could then get it keyed to your ignition key so you only carry one key. That's my only criticism of my bros...

    Helmet holder / lock

You can take the tag lock Tony linked above and after drilling and tapping two holes, its like what Yamaha should have done - this is what my bro did on his '06 - He likes the way it works -

    RZ 350 Kenny Roberts Edition

If spark issue is as simple as a new CDI, I'd be tempted to at least do that much. When my RZ carbs get plugged its always been the pilots - it runs on choke but as soon as it warms up and you try and take it off choke, it won't idle. If yours has similar carb prob, once you get spark issue...

    triple Torques?

Steering stem head nut (big one) torque is 82ft-lb, upper fork clamp bolt is 19ft-lb. The lower fork clamp bolts are 17ft-lb (they are different).

    California Licensing?

Apparently , not all are 50 state bikes, my '08 doesn't have this emissions sticker mentioned here - FZ1OA Message Board - View Single Post - California Licensing? Just realized this is the same thread as the one I linked, just posted on both forums.....

    FZ1 exhaust recommendation

Hate to hear that - metal rubbing on a header pipe has potential for making a hole unless I just don't see something here. 'Rubbing a little' seems like the same kind of thing as being a little pregnant....Wonder what Yoshimura's take on this is? May email them and ask..... My brother moved...

    FZ1 exhaust recommendation

That's good to hear, especially since I'm going to be installing on an '08. My brother's FZ1 is an '06 so maybe that was why his rubbed. This will be my 2nd Yosh system, have one on my CBR600.

    FZ1 exhaust recommendation

Is the Yosh system compatible with the center stand or am I going to have to modify something? Reason I ask, my bro said the center stand spring rubs on his Yosh system.

What did you do to your FZ today?

Un-boxed and inspected my retro kit. UPS did their best to beat it up, but all the internal packing saved the day. No marks, mars or rubs on the kit!

    Coolant drain plug broke

I stopped using extractors after dealing with one that snapped off, especially in small stuff. I've had better luck with left handed drill bits. When the drill starts getting a 'bite' into the broken screw, bolt or whatever, that's usually about when the broken piece backs out.

    Finally finished my PhD

Congrats, that's one heck of an accomplishment! Hope things have changed since I was at that level, my background is ME and about all you could do was research which I didn't really care for. I opted to get two Master's degrees, in ME and then later another in PE. Has turned out great for...

    2006 fz1

I've owned a lot of bikes over the years and want them the way I want them to be, so I bought a new '08 last year $6999 OTD. The used ones around this area at that time were pricey and none offered anything I really wanted. I haven't regretted my decision. I already have a ton of changes in...

    Just picked up a 08 fz1

It has a black fender, forks, fairing and airbox cover, the tank and tail are granite gray. Also had someone point out the reflectors on the calipers/forks are not 'right' too. The VIN tag shows production was 7/08. I don't know when Yam changes factory over for model year changes, but...

    Just picked up a 08 fz1

Cool bike.... I have one in same color - also bought from dealer, but last June. When I bought mine, thought I was going to have plenty of time to ride, but almost as soon as I got the 1st ride in, I went back to work and still haven't managed to finish break in yet..... Amazing the...

Pics of my new Penske 8983 @ Traxxion Suspension

I bought JBOAT's 8987 and needed lighter spring. As soon as I got the shock I ordered same, it took Traxxion (Hyperco spring) over 2 months to get me the spring. I had to keep calling and calling and calling..... I hope you're not waiting on a spring......

    RZ 350 Kenny Roberts Edition

I went to the Yam dealer show at the SuperDome in New Orleans Dec '83 where the RZ was introduced for the Yam SE US Region - KR wheelyed one across the stage - was a pretty exciting moment. We got to met him and all that (he is kinda short....), but was super nice guy and a blast to talk with...

    RZ 350 Kenny Roberts Edition

If yours is going to be like mine always was, you're going to need a good damper if you're going to ride it fast. These bikes had a rep for head shaking bad enough to throw you a good scare. I tried everything to make mine quit, diff wt fork oil, diff fork oil levels, diff pressures, diff...
