need quick help - how to unplug tailight and blinkers?

Fuse box is located under the seat and is easy to get at. It's the rectangular box, almost directly in the center. Pop the lid and there should be a sticker listing what the fuses are. You only need to remove 2 of them to kill the head, tail and blinkers.

    Brake light woes?

Pull the seat off and look back to where the tail light is. Should be a couple of rubber plugs covering the bulb sockets. Pull those out and the sockets rotate to the left to come out. Reinstall the same way but rotate right to clip them in. It's tight and a bit fiddly to get them but can be...

    Help identifying part

Yes, you should wait to get the new RR before running the bike any longer than needed. Don't ride it. It could affect performance since you are only running off the power the battery has in it. As that is depleted, you spark would get weaker and the bike could lose some power, along with...

    Gen 1 tank grips

Did you ever get the StompGrip done on your bike? Would love to see some pics if so.

    Help identifying part

The bike will likely run without the RR but the battery will not charge. Looking closer at you pics, is the bike missing the front fairing completely or do you just have it off? I don't see the mounting tab on the upper most frame tube for the bracket that normally holds the RR on the left front...

    Help identifying part

Yup, that's the regulator/rectifier plug, the main harness half. The stock RR lives on the left side of the bike, under the upper fairing cover by the rearmost bolt for the front fairing. It should be bolted to a bracket there. This is the location. This is what the stock RR looks...

    Gen 1 tank grips

I was out there a couple weeks ago and it wasn't too bad going up. Coming down, I did see several tho. PM me sometime during the week if you are planning a ride out there. Best bet is to go to Cycle Gear. They carry the universal StompGrips that you can cut to fit the tank the way you want...

    Chain and sprocket kit

Correct. In fact Yamaha uses DID chains for all their street bikes as far as I know.

    Gen 1 tank grips

Done both TechSpec and StompGrips. My personal preference is StompGrip. TechSpec works but just felt too thick to me. StompGrip works even better and is hardly noticeable on the tank. Curious what you have done to dial in your rearsets m4ximusprim3?

    No Start / Clock Reset

How old is your battery? Have you checked the white connector under the tank from the stator to make sure it isn't starting to fry? You might want to start carrying enough tools to pop the tank up and check voltage next time this happens away from home. Not much extra to carry and should fit...

    AIS removal kit?

That is similar to the kit Holeshot sells. Should work fine. I think some guys on the FZ1OA forum have used it.

a different shock upgrade for the gen1

If I didn't already have a Penske shock on the 04 FZ1 I just bought, I'd be scouring ebay for one of these Beemer shocks right now. Great write up!
