I suggest that the stock GEN II spring rates are close to being correct for your riding weight with the '06 being slightly stiffer. At 250+ you are in the upper range of the spring rate and expect to ramp up preload. Ditto on the above mentioned frame issues on the '06-'07s. The OEM shocks are...

Looks like someone was practicing touch 'n goes for their pilot's license! Also the parts in the photos appear to be made of aluminum. To my recollection, the OEM parts are dark coated steel. Where these lowering replacements or swapped? They are very similar looking to '04-'06 R1 and as such...

Sorry to say, the R1 has a different head angle and offset (24 vs 25 degrees). The angle of the tubes in the upper and lower triple is different enough that you cannot swap between the two (R1-FZ1) without stressing the clamps. That being said, you can swap the full R1 triple headset ('07-08)...
