    Gen I Fork Seal Replacement?

So you need one of each of those per fork? I looked 'em up on Rocky Mountain ATV and they're about $8 each.. not bad. And thanks to YFZRiderNY for posting the howto videos! Rob

    Gen I Fork Seal Replacement?

Guys: Is there a write-up someplace that shows how to replace the fork seals on the Gen I? I checked Pat's page but the closest thing he has is replacing the forks themselves once they've been redone. My forks are already redone (by Traxxion Dynamics) when owned by the PO, but now the...

What did you do to your Non-FZ1 motorcycle today.

Oh btw... do you have hand guards yet? If not, get some before your class. They will help protect your levers from snapping when you drop the bike. If you can't get them in time, then get at least one spare lever for each side so you can replace them after the class. I use Barkbuster Storm...

What did you do to your Non-FZ1 motorcycle today.

Spare? Perhaps. The stock bars will bend if you dump it hard enough. Aftermarket bars are a LOT stronger. I've crashed my DR650 and KLX250S quite hard several times and have yet to bend them. Before you get new bars, decide if you want to stick with 7/8" bars or go with Fat bars (1-1/8")...

    Pacific Northwest FZ1 Ride

My KLX250S wouldn't start the other day. Hadn't been ridden in at least two months. I ended up dumping the gas, changing the plug, and spraying out the carburetor (just to be safe). Fires right up now. My FZ1 is my daily driver, so it's running fine. It's just filthy. :) Rob

    Pacific Northwest FZ1 Ride

My days off have been fairly flexible, but I tend to take Fridays off (I work four 10's usually), sometimes I'll stagger my weeks to do a four-day weekend if I have a trip I want to do. Looking at that proposed map, it looks to me like more than a one-day ride. On overnighter someplace would...

I might be up for this... depends on when, my own time off possibilities, etc, etc. :) Rob

    Seeking advice on toy haulers.

I've been living fulltime in a toyhauler for almost four years. Mine is a 2006 Keystone Raptor 5th wheel, 38'. It actually measures out to a hair under 40'. It has a single slide-out in the living area and a separate 14' garage. For fulltime living, it's fantastic. But as others have...

    FZ1 V's Z1000

I had a 2010 Z1000 that I bought new a little over a year ago. I got rid of it a year later. I loved the bike, but for my purposes, it was totally impractical. The riding position was uncomfortable, wind protection was virtually non-existent, even with an aftermarket screen, and the 4-gal gas...

    too cold for the fz1

If your head is that cold, spend $5 on a thin balaclava. It makes a world of difference. Just remember to put your earplugs in before putting it on. :) Handwarmers are awesome; I would recommend them even if you lived in Florida. They're cheap. $20 for the warmers themselves (from Rocky...

    too cold for the fz1

My FZ1 is my commuter. Unless there's ice or snow on the ground, I'll be riding it regardless of the temperature. I built an extension for my factory windscreen by cutting up the lid of a big Sterline plastic tub. I painted it black and then used electrical tape to attach it. It looks...

    Calculating Force of Impact...

Yeah that's the sort of thing I'm wondering... and I agree with you. I'm inclined to think it'd rip the motor clear out of the truck, or if it hit square enough, drive it through the firewall into the cab. And to think the motors in those things weigh upwards of 2000 lbs. Rob

    Calculating Force of Impact...

I had a thought this morning. Gruesome, but put that part out of your mind and it's really kind of intriguing. Let's say somebody on a sportbike similar to an FZ1, total weight of 650 lbs (bike plus rider), was going WOT at 150 mph on a straight road, and met an unfortunate end by hitting a...

    2013 BMW R1200GS Announced!

KTM has an 1190 Adventure coming out too. It'll be pretty neat... supposed to make 150 hp. But for me, an adventure bike should be able to go damn near anywhere, and do so reliably and durably. For me, that bike is either my current bike (DR650) or a Tiger 800XC. :) Rob
