Don't let your inexperience hold you back. I converted an 07 R1 into a street fighter and built several fiberglass pieces using my college theater prop making book to guide me. And by the time I was finished (making every mistake you can), the bike got a four page spread in a national bike...
I bought the Made in China one; way less expensive, but it also came slightly bent so I had to pull it straight. All is well with it now, but I'm not familiar with the expensive OEM conversion it sounds like you bought.
I don't know the model number, Mike, but I know when you buy the model-specific pad kit on the site, you have the option of adding the center pad--or you have the option of which center pad you add. Once you click that, the various options come come up, and the one you see is the one I picked...
The pads may be the same material, but look and feel entirely different. Personally, don't care for the ultra-thin High Fusion pads, but I bought a sheet and made a pattern and fit the stuff under the custom tail I made for my "R-None" (R1 street fighter) project. The tail was short, so a lot...
TechSpec on Every Bike
I've used TechSpec pads on my last five bikes and I am a big fan. Just for starters, you can easily remove these pads, place them on wax paper, and reapply them later with no loss of adhesion. I've done this with a few bikes that I've painted. TechSpec's most textured...
I did the same thing the second time I emailed them, but still no response. I'll try one more time, then that'll be it. If they don't want my business, then they don't want my business. Thanks.
Good to hear it. I've tried (twice) emailing this French company through their website, but never got a reply. Did you buys yours directly through their website or through a retailer? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Sad when even its residents mock California, especially when they use tired old cliches to do it. Like shitting where you eat. Please, do all of us who appreciate this awesome state (I ride every single day of the year) a favor and move. Sounds like Texas might be your kind state.
Anyway, twice...
Thanks. Yes, this FZ1 was my bike project done on the Cheap & Quick; everything either cost me nothing or very little and took relatively no time to do. The solo-seat fiberglass project was done over a weekend for less than $50 in materials. I don't even have any plans to paint the black primer...
And Here's Mine...
Thought I'd throw in a few pics of my recent naked conversion using the cheapie(ish) eBay-sold Chinese conversion kit. This bike is my workhorse, so I'm not concerned with it being the prettiest beast on the road by spending all sorts of money on pretty carbon fiber radiator...
Hey, Lonney, I finished the naked bike conversion, so here are some of those pics of the bike with your exhaust on it.
A bit frustrated because I'm having an issue with the single headlight now. I've asked the other conversion owners on the other FZ1 forum and awaiting a reply from someone...
Done.
Too bad there is no way to delete these posts, so I'll just give an update if anyone clicks on this thread. I finished the weekend project more than a year ago, just using the original tail plastic as my fitment template (always a weird feeling to destroy perfectly good equipment). As...
I'm happy to report that I got the 08 used shock in the mail today and the adaptor yesterday. And though I thoroughly appreciate Richard including installation instructions, his 26-step install process is entirely intimidating to the likes of an all-thumbs Mr. Badwrench like me. Once I figure...
