Great bike I put over 25,000 miles on a 06 FZ6. The only thing it needed was a new battery, chain, and tires. Fantastic commuter. I averaged 46 mpg and a really fun bike to ride. Nice hit on the top end. Good luck with your sale.
I live in So Cal but spent a week riding up north last month. Stayed a couple of days in Eureka. That Hwy 36 is amazing I also really loved Hwy 20 and much of the hwy 1. The road to the Lost Coast wasn't the best but different. Your a lucky dude to have all those roads on your door step...
If your getting detonation on 87 grade in then you probably have bigger problems then the gas.
I run 87 and have never had a single problem. Now if Yamaha USA said to run 91 then I would. But they don't at least not on my Cal bike.
But If I was to upgrade the engine and end up with...
Get some MTB gloves even fingerless ones are fine. They are nice to have when you hit the gound which at some point we all do. Some even have a nice sweat wiping pad on the backside. Keep riding it's fun and a great workout.
When I got my full Yoshi header it came with a new link pipe. My bike already had a Yoshi slip on with a different Yoshi link pipe that worked with the stock headers. A good Muffler shop should be able to hook you up with a link pipe to work if yours doesn't. Or give Yoshi a call and see what...
Rizoma all the way.
Not cheap but you have a opportunity to upgrade here so take it.
Get the risers, bars, and bar ends. Looks so much better then the stock set up and works great as well. Just my 1 cent.
Here is a link.

11 days till I head up to No Cal for a hwy 36 run. First day will be close to 500 miles up to Red Bluff spend the night. Leaving from Valencia Ca. Then hit the 36 the next day to ??? Maybe Eureka and the Lost Coast Brewery short day. Then plan to head where?? Well back to Valencia but will...
Before ordering shims you need to know what size shims to order. That means you need to check the valve clearances first. I gotta believe that at the first valve check you probably won't need to re-shim. Yamaha makes some of the best valves in the business. Just remember to record all your...
I suspect the 17 tooth sprocket has the RPM in a lower range then the engine likes to run at or one that your not used to. Try downshifting when you feel the buck. One tooth on the front up or down is a pretty big change equal to like adding three teeth up or down in the back. The speedoDRD...
