Actually a converted traditional Japanese storage house. Would have been common to see one of these in a house's compound back in the day. Away from the house but not too far, they'd keep stuff of value locked up there, including dry goods and foods along with weapons. Reason for seperation, fire. They are earthen clad. Can still see them here and there both original and converted.
