I found a new 09 fz1 on cycletrader and the same one on another classified site that was priced at $6480 but now they say "name your price". It is showing a picture that is not of the actual bike and it is black but the site doesn't say what color it is. Curious if anyone lives near this dealership that could possibly take a look for me? Kinda wanting a cobalt blue one but if the price is right:tup: thanks Kendall

Why not just call them and ask what the color is? If the bike is advertised as new and untitiled that is what it is. When you have them on the phone ask if there are any cosmetic issues with the bike as it sat in the showroom. Most likely there wouldn't be but worth asking. Lot's of new bikes are sold via phone, and then you show up and do the paperwork and either ride it home or trailer it home.

I think new FZ1's are a very, very slow seller because there are newer, better rides from Kawasaki or Suzuki or Honda, plus Triumph. You just don't see them in dealer's showrooms very much so not surprised a dealer still has an '09 still on the floor. See if you can pick it up cheap.

I could call them but I about got burnt on a pickup once by doing the same thing. I called a place about a 4x4 toyota I saw an ad for. I couldn't see from the pictures what condition the tires were and if the engine had any leaks, so I called them. They told me the tires might have 10k miles on them and there were no visible leaks. I told them I would be sending them a deposit and that I would have my bank transfer the funds and I would be there that saturday afternoon to finish up the transaction. Well just by chance a good friend of mine was going to be going to this same town (about 3 hrs away) during the week while I was at work and he stopped by to check the pickup out. Go figure he told me the tires might have 1k miles left on them and there was a puddle of coolant under it and the leak was visibly coming from around the water pump. Saved me a few dollars.

I will give them a call tomorrow after work, and have them send me some pictures of the actual bike.

I bought my '08 this way - when I found the dealerships ad on the internet I called and asked about it - first thing I did was ask for some clear, close up pics which they gladly provided, sending me a dozen or more within 30min of my asking. Photos confirmed it was new and without a scratch.

I drove over two days later and brought it home. They were willing to 'hold' it without any money changing hands even though I offered.

I'll be calling them tomorrow asking for some detailed pics and such, I've got my fingers crossed on this.

That's who I bought mine from a couple of months ago. I went there just to "look" at one in person. It was listed at just over $9000 and it was an 09 as well. I told them that I could get a 10 model at Burleson Power Sports for the same price and while sitting on the bike I noticed that the right foot peg was bent. After that I got to looking at the bike more closely and noticed some scratches here and there and it was obvious that the bike had been dropped. Long story made short I got the bike for $6000 with full warranty and it had less than 300 miles on it. I'm particular about how my bikes look, but every time I see those scratches I just grin and bear it.... They're good people to deal with but you have to play the back and forth game just like anywhere else. Took the bike there for it's first service and they were top notch. I'd buy from them again.

Then your bike wasn't 'new'. OP is looking at new, never titled machine that should have no more than 1 or 2 miles on the clock. I'd never buy any bike that had been driven more than a dozen or so miles without personally inspecting it, but a brand new bike on the showroom floor that hasn't been prepped yet has far less chance of being in a damaged condition. Some good clear photos of the bike in question from the dealership should allay the OP's concerns.

If I get a chance Kendall I'll swing by and have a look for ya. I'm about an hour away from there.

That would be very cool of you, but don't go out of your way to go look. I'm going to give them a call and see if they can send me some pics. I still need to go to the bank but that won't be an issue. Then if all things are a go I'll have to decide if I want to have it shipped up here, me pull trailer down and get it or get a bit crazy and fly down and ride home. Just not real sure about getting on a bike for its maiden voyage of over 500 miles.

I just sent an email to a dealer in michigan with a gray 09 for $6990. Hoping to get some pictures from them and also hoping it isn't the two tone with the black and gray. From what I've seen shipping from most places is around $500. Which I don't think is too bad.

Thanks for watching for deals on them for me. I will be on one before summer gets here.
