It Finally Happened!

Congrats Billy !! That repair was FAST ! Great pics too. Thanks for those.
I know you are giddy with anticipation and can't wait to get back on the pavement with your pride and joy.
I was over 2-months rebuilding my '01 which is black like yours. I wasn't knocked unconscious in my crash but I swear that the rebuilding part was kinda FUN ! (my wife says I'm a bit crazy, maybe I had ahead injury after-all and didn't know it . . . heh,heh,)

Thanks Pilot! Being that I was fortunate enough to have great people here made it a whole lot easier, both mentally and monetarily. Aside from my new helmet, I didn't spend much dough getting parts to put her back together. Also, it was great having my son help me in getting the parts installed. As much as I don't want to admit it, it's been a tough week and a half. If I sit down in one spot for more than 10 minutes, I stiffen up pretty good, especially my legs. I guess as we get older it takes longer for our bodies to heal up. I guess my son notices this and has been going out of his way to make things easier on the "old man". As for your "head injury", it's not so much in your head as it is in your blood. Death would be the only thing that would keep me from riding and who knows, maybe in death I'll be able to ride the best bikes ever made! Now wouldn't that be "heaven"!

Thanks Buddy! I just saw your video clip on F.B. with the couple playing the piano. That had me laughing so hard! It is truly wonderful to find someone that you not just grow old with but grow old together and still feel the love and warmth that you had when you were first married. They looked like they were so happy together. Not too common these days. I think in our quest to evolve we have made life too complicated. Wedding vows have become merely words you must say to finish a ceremony. My grandparents were together until death and while I'm sure they had some hard times, they stayed together and loved each other unconditionally. I'm so sure that they are still together in the hereafter.

P.S. Sorry to highjack the thread. I had that video on my mind.

Hey, no problem! My wife and I are pushing for that! We've been together for almost 24 years now. Still happy and laughing through it all. Yes, we've had some rough times but we take our vows seriously. Like you said though, this type of marriage in this day and age is a very rare thing. We are blessed to have each other. :D
 
A Light At The End Of The Tunnel????

Well, just as I thought this thread was dead, the phone rang this morning and Geico had called to let me know that they had DENIED the other party's claim! Thank God. Also, they found his insurance company (Allstate) which I called and filed my claim. Talk about a tiny bit of satisfaction! In just a half hour with them on the phone we already have someone coming to look at the bike either tomorrow, Friday, or Monday. Thank God! I also have a new claims adjuster from Allstate who will be handling any bills from the hospital. They seemed really eager to help and they also are going to look into the fact that the car is insured and registered 125 miles from here yet it's in the Bronx everyday driven by someone else! Thats right, I gave them a ton of ammo. Allstate seemed really eager to help but I'm not getting too far ahead of myself. Once their adjuster (who specializes in motorcycles) checks out the bike, hopefully I can get reimbersed for all the money I expended and also for a new tank and upper and lower fairings. I have kept all my receipts and all the damaged parts as well as dated high resolution pictures which I have put to disc for their adjuster to take with them. I will hopefully have some better news than what I've been getting lately since this accident occurred. I'll keep you informed.
 
That is a great start Billy! Glad to hear this! It will be interesting to hear what the final outcome is. So, the driver of the car is not the insured party? I hope you can also get pics of the so-called damage to the car too, just to know where the point of impact was. That would be key information to have to determine how this accident really happened. Don't forget the helmet along with the bike damage! You should get your money back for what you spent on the new lid too. :D

Oh definitely. The young lady from Allstate was very thorough with everything. I have all my receipts here stapled together. I even have to price sheet and fiches for the gas tank and the upper fairing. I had almost forgotten those! I am now trying to find the website for the lower fairings. Imagine, I have spoken to the owner and had hardware sent to me and I didn't even save the website. Hopefully I'll find it so I can have a written price to show the adjuster.

Well, to give a small update, the new adjuster called me yesterday after posting my previous post and all I can say is that after talking with her, I'm gonna need a bunch of crossed fingers. These companies don't want to ever pay out anything to anyone, regardless of evidence. The new adjuster sounded like she had already made up her mind without even seeing a piece of evidence. I guess they are trained to be in that "mode" from the onset. I'll see what the person that comes to see the bike says. Until then, who knows????
 
I'm now fitting with fingers crossed. The adjuster came yesterday morning from Allstate to check out the bike. I was prepared for him with every receipt for parts I bought and printouts from the Dealers website for the gas tank and lower fairing. He actually made notations about there not being any damage to the front of the bike at all. He also noted where he had thought the point of impact was (the left lower side), which should help me out with the medical bill portion of the claim because it disputes what was said by the other party to the police. I have learned not to get my hopes up too high, so I'll be hearing from him in a couple of days to see what or if I'll be getting paid.

Well at least that's a step in the right direction. The fact that they even came out to look at the bike is a good sign in my book.
 
Once step closer to closure, whatever that may be. But, I hope that now that they've seen the bike, they understand the accident a lot more. Good luck Billy!
 
I find it interesting that they took this long to come and see your bike. It's like they were hoping that the evidence would go away. But you had pictures and receipts, etc, good luck.

Actually the problem was that the officer in charge at the scene failed to write down any insurance policy codes on the report. It then took Geico two weeks just to do a search to find out the other driver's insurance company. A simple thing that I would think a police officer does on a regular basis was not done hence all the problems. With all the shabby fact taking in regards to this accident, I'll be happy to get anything at this point.

Give them a deadline and tell them your lawyer will be contacting them after that deadline. Tell them the lawyer wanted to do a demand letter immediately but you want to give them a chance to do right by you. ...even if you do not have a lawyer lined up. Even a hint of litigation might prompt them to settle this. It is pocket change compared to going to court.
 
I just spoke with the collision adjuster. Good news and bad news. A little over 2400 bucks is what he came up with. Thats the good news. The bad news is that it's based only if they decide the accident was their clients fault. So I'm not holding my breath.
