Butterfly valves keep adjusting

I think the issue with mine was that the motor was only engaging sporadically, but I don't recall any issues with the gear / shaft. Then again, that has been a few years. I don't know for sure it I tossed the old one or not. I tend to keep things that I don't need... It could be out there taking ups some space in a shelf in the shop...
It wasn't an obvious issue at all. It was only after I was trying to figure out why it wasn't driving the linkage even though the motor was running that I finally spotted the issue.

IIRC, it seems like when I was running the diagnostic tests, it would cycle the butterflies, and then on the next test it wouldn't... no motor sounds... just nothing. Try again, and maybe it would work. When riding, sometimes it would work fine, and I had no error codes, then the code would appear again, and you could tell it wasn't running right again. I think mine may have been more related to the motor itself, or maybe wiring connections in the assembly... I don't know.

Hopefully our used motors last a long time and we don't have to mess with it again!

How many miles did you have on the bike when you had to swap this motor?
44K.

The problem started on my first day after the local Stealership did the valve adjustment. Maybe not a direct cause / effect situation, but they refused to even consider fixing it, so I ended up going back through everything they did (and claimed to do but didn't), and I was astounded at the screw ups I found along the way. The valves were to spec, but if they didn't mess the servo motor up and it's just a coincidence, then that was the only thing they didn't mess up. It was pretty bad... Good thing I went in and did all that myself... but I could have done that without paying them!

Interesting that mine was 44K as well when I got the first CEL. Changed it at 47.3K.

Definitely disappointing to pay all that money and then have to re-do all that!
