2016 Honda CBR1000RR test ride

I took a test ride on a Tri Colour 2016 Honda CBR1000RR and it was eye opening.
The handling was sublime, it just tips into corners by itself.
I had a 2006 GSXR1000 back in 2008-2010 and I don't remember it handling like this.
It had excellent brakes, nice fuelling and good midrange power.
It probably needs a tooth dropped on the front sprocket as the gearing is really high.
Only drawback was the sporty position as my FZ1N is like an old comfortable armchair. The CBR put a bit of pressure on my back and neck.
I'm having a midlife crisis lol and figure I want my last sportsbike before turning 50 in three years time.

Thanks for the ride review! Your comments echo all of the others I've read about the CBR1000. Journalists have been touting it as the best street superbike of the bunch with old school, analog feel and sweet handling.

Did you pull the trigger?

Nah not yet, the new model is coming out soon so I'll wait for the run-out deals.

This was more of a reconnaissance mission to see if I could hack the ergo's. It was bearable and the majority of my rides are shortish these days.

Yeah I know, I posted it by mistake as I was looking at a few used 2012 models (same as the 2016) just before I posted this thread. The site wouldn't let me edit the heading :(
