Yamaha confirmed today that they'll unveil the new R1 in November. Lots of rumours floating around and apparently there will be a 'race spec' version with 230 hp.

This has been confirmed as the street version; I'm eager to see the homologation special, it should be pretty mean.

I'm digging the compact, efficient LED headlights.

Yamaha's marketing is terrible but the bike does look fantastic. Rossi and Lorenzo are forced into these horrendous media events and it must be so awkward for them. Cringe-worthy :)

The specs sound great 200 HP and 199kg (ready to ride) full electronic package, ABS, traction controll, wheelie control, launch control.... Sounds great I definitely will consider it.

I'm not digging it at all. I guess I'm still living in the past. The nose is way too broad and flat for my liking, and I don't care for those lower panels that line the route of the exhaust. At least they didn't go with a "Bazooka" looking can out back. Then again, I didn't care for the RC-8 when it first came out either and grew to like the looks after a while.

The lower panels that cover the exhaust are most likely for aerodynamics, so I would expect some one piece design instead of several panels. However the look is definitely more track bike than any other. I do not like the lights, I am sure they will look awkward when they are on. The led slits are nice but the main light output will come from the two lower lights and they might destroy the design of the bike. Anyway will not get it before I had a chance for a test ride since ergonomics are very important (I am tall).

Let's hope this one isn't as disappointing as the 2009-2014 model. Definitely looks better hope it performs better.

I personally don't care for all the wheelie control and abs. Guy I ride with has a ZX14 with all the gizmos and he can't ride worth crap.

To get an R1M version is gonna be luck or you know someone high up it seems.

"Teams and individuals are asked to apply online via their national distributor for an offer of a machine, via the dedicated YZF-R1M application system that opens on December 1st 2014. Once the distributor has received online applications they will establish contact between selected Yamaha dealers and potential customers to make an appointment to discuss the availability of the limited supply of machinery. It is anticipated that demand will exceed supply, and Yamaha distributors will use their discretion in managing the allocation of YZF-R1M units"

You never did an emergency braking from 150 mph ;) there are countries that allow unlimited speed ;). I always had bikes without ABS and traction control but it sure is something i would always take if available. Well the traction control is debatable but ABS would have saved me in the past and I ride a lot and have experience.
