I picked up a pair of ebay cheap LED flood lights that I want to mount under the fairing somewhere. Am considering buying a longer bolt to mount them to the upper radiator trim bolt on each side.

I've searched the threads and don't have too good an idea about how to wire them in... should I go to the headlamp wiring, or maybe the running light wiring... enough amps in the running light circuit to handle these two 10W units?

[edit] google conversion shows that 20watt @ 12vdc = 1.67 amp draw

looking for some links and hints from anyone who's done this

thanks!

You would be better off running them straight off the battery with a relay from some other switched circuit. If you think you might be installing other aftermarket electrical accessories (heated grips, phone charger, etc.) you should consider some sort of fuse block. You can put one together yourself or there are a few options for purchasing pre-made. Personally, I used a Fuzeblock, but opinions vary.

If you want the proper output I would do as previously posted. I made my own distribution block. Wasn't hard just time consuming, I can't give you a good estimate on how long tho because I wired in my heated grips at the same time.

Battery output at the load voltage is about 9.6v measured with multimeter.
Run them with a fuse and switch right from the battery. Safe and effective!

well, counter to all of the above advice, impatient me went ahead and wired the lights into the front running lamp harness... works GREAT! Sure, they will be on all the time, but I would run like that anyway...

I'll work on aiming them this evening.

This is where the naked bike has a benefit, the naked light points where your bars point and give a better coverage by the sounds of it. I don't have any issues running at night on my naked. It would be interesting to hear from people who have made the conversion from faired to naked to see if the lighting is better or not.
