First Hand Gun

Just a warning before it starts. Please keep this thread non-political. Just share what you love about your guns not what you hate. ;)

Thanks!

There is nothing wrong with discussing restrictions in different areas of the country and world. It very enlightening. I'll make sure and not get 'political'. I brought that up in my previous post. I'm well aware of what it could turn into. None of us want that. :surrender:

Previous discussions were fine. I could just easily see where it might go from there. ;) It was a preemptive strike!

My latest addition is the new Remington R51. It is a very unique gun. Will take it to the range tomorrow.

I'll get some actual pictures of them tonight but Michele and I just went shopping yesterday and after trying, in-hand-only, several models, we each bought what we felt the most comfortable with.

She bought the Smith & Wesson M&P .40 and I bought the Springfield Armory XD .45 ACP at the new Bass Pro Shop here in NH.

Time to look into reloading equipment because ammo is expensive!

Does anyone here run the cheaper steel casing for target? I bought all brass casing/FMJ. We will collect all brass and save it for reloads. I know you can reload steel a couple times but it's not ideal hence buying the brass right up front. But, for targeting, steel and scraping the casings for recycling can be cost effective too.

That XD is my Hiking gun in a shoulder holster. Don't get in the way of the back pack a bit. Great gun, spot on sites.

All brass for me, .45 ammo was $15 a box, not out there at $22 plus. You to get it at Walmart, 250 count in the Yellow Box.

Use brass, after one or two reloads the steel cases split jamming the gun where brass will last longer. Blazer ammo was aluminum cased, cheap but not very good and can't be reloaded.

Reloading supplies are in short supply and good powder is hard to find. .45 Ammo is running around $25 a box here in Illinois but is easier to find than 9mm. I am having a hard time finding .22LR solids.

That is good Hail, I was at Cabelas today to see what they have. I've been staying away for a few months now, well they had (0) .22 but all kinds of AK and AR. Soon the AK stuff will all be gone, so get it if you can. Grabbed a few more 30 rnd Magpul mags to.. I asked about .22, he laughed..

I go in early Sunday morning. 6:30 AM or so when all the fresh stock is out from the night shift. My local store no longer has limits. I have been able to get several 333rd boxes of Winchester hollow points for ~$12 a pop. Last weekend I grabbed 3 boxes.

Hollow points are no problem to get but they don't feed well in my target pistol.

My SR22 takes everything.

I'm getting a Ruger SR22 soon. My daughter liked the .22 pistol shooting better than the rifle. My son liked my Ruger 10/22 rifle. I picked up a 25 round Ruger mag and the 25/25 flip Ruger mag and a 10 round clear mag. Now I just need to find stuff to put in the mags.

I have over 700 rounds of target stuff, but they will go fast. I think the local Wal-Marts have been getting some, so I'll have to sneak in early Sat or Sun morning to try to snag a few boxes.

9mm is getting easier to find lately. I'm still not happy with the price, but it's a sellers market.

I'm happy with my Glock 19

and the wife likes her Walther PPS 9mm

The Walther came with a 7 round and 8 round mag. I bought her a 6 round flush mag and a second 8 round mag.

The R51 is based on an old design. It is interesting. I think the wooden grips will help the looks a lot. I'm anxious to hear what you think.
