5k rattle!

Sounds like the top triple tree area, but I've disassembled and reassembled and looked at microfishce over and over to make sure everything is put together / torqued correctly. Is there a fix for the pads rattling?

Sometimes your fork spring or springs can be hitting the inner tube on your forks creating a rattle. Some guys have just raised the front of the bike, removed the front wheel, then loosened the forks in the triple trees, and rotated the upper tube while keeping the lower in place, a half turn, and then tighten them back up. I'm not saying that it is your issue but only that it could be, and this won't cost you anything but some time. Next time you hear it just lightly hit the brakes to see if it stops. If it doesn't, then your pads aren't the issue.
 
^^^ that sounds very plausible. Im not understanding why you must take off the front wheel. Wouldnt it be easier to leave the wheel on and keep the lower half of the fork solid, so it doesnt spin when rotating the top?

Your absolutely right Brandt, leave the wheel in place and just loosen the triples. Don't mind me, I'm an idiot sometimes! :banghead:
 
I have a buzzing sound in the same area around the same rpm. The only thing i dislike about the bike so far. Sounds like its at the top of the tank or by the triple trees Like you said. Probably completely different than yours mines a second gen.

Sounds like the dreaded vibe of the small plastic section above your gauges,if you look there are some fix`s on this site,while riding put a hand on this section to see if stops

I seem to have the same buzz/rattle which I isolated to the fuel tank cowling. I removed the cowling and padded the area with x3 small strips of self adhesive foam (about 5mm thick). Wet here so I cannot test ride the fix. Tap the top and sides of the cowling with a finger and listen to what you hear. May be the same thing. Cheers.

I have the same and also have tracked it down to the plastic around the gauges and the dash panels I call them, on the front fairing
 
You will find if you push back on the gauges it also stops, I used a piece of small dia clear plastic pipe, approx 1/4 inside dia x 4 3/4" long, I pushed this between the gauges and the triangle dash section. started it on the left side then along the straight section then down to the corner of the tachometer [not over the tacho], this was going to be a temporary fix,but after a day or so I don`t even notice it any more and work`s well, so after 4k now it`s there for good.
 
Tighten all the fasteners on the front fairing, and I mean ALL of them. If that doesn't fix it check the little black plastic triangle ontop of the dash.
