FZ1 or Warrior?

*sorry if this is the wrong section for this. wasnt sure if I should post this here or another section*

I dont know which one to get! I am a member of both forums and have learned a lot about both bikes. I need a bike that is good for a little bit of everything. I know the warrior is better for commutes/ long rides and passenger comfort but the fz1 is sportier and handles better. I am coming off of a R6 so part of me thinks the fz1 would be an easier transition plus all my friends ride sport bikes so I wouldnt be so out of place or get dusted in the twisties but on the other hand I am built more for a cruiser (6'2" 220lbs) and Im in construction so my commute can vary widely. Any ideas? I know you guys will have an obvious bias but maybe bring up some angles I havent thought of yet???

You'll fit just fine on the FZ1 and it will make the transition from the R6 that much easier. And seriously if you were riding the R6 you'll definitely fit even better on the FZ1.

The Warrior is a fine bike and handles pretty good for what it is, but there's no hiding the weight and long wheelbase in the twisties.

Get the FZ1 and don't look back :D

I've ridden a Warrior a few times, and as it seems to be the best handling cruiser I can imagine, but it doesn't hold a candle to the FZ1. The R6 to FZ1 will be a big enough change. It will feel like it has torque, but will still have a high end whop. It will be more comfortable, but still take the twisties. It will fit in (and keep up) much better with the sportbike group.

If you get to a point where you can afford 2 bikes and still want a cruiser, I think the Warrior is a fine choice (it's on my list as a 2nd or 3rd bike). However, I think you'll be happiest on the FZ1 from what I've heard. (PS - blue is fastest!);)

'02 gen1 and '02 warrior about the price of a '08+ gen2
Tough choice, that's why I have 2.

If I had to make the choice.......

Gen2 .........vmax

I would not rule out a Warrior u would be shocked at just how fast and hard it can be ridden.I used to dust my son and his buddies on the twisities with mine.I gotta say I would prolly choose the warrior for your needs.did u know the R1 fork mod also fits on the Warrior? mine was at 108 torque and about 85 horse,I should have never sold it,been thinking about getting another one

I've only ridden a Warrior 2x's, but I have to admit I was totally shocked by the handling, especially with the forward foot controls. It does have sport tires and what look to be R1 brakes and inverted forks which aren't raked out like the Raider. The acceleration was decent, but it didn't feel like the hit from the FZ1. I'd figure anything over 1/8th of a mile (maybe less) and the FZ1 would be all tail lights.

I was suggesting the FZ1 mostly because he's coming from an R6. It all comes down to finding both bikes and trying them out for yourself. All this is from a guy who swore he'd never own a cruiser (me), so any credit I give to the Warrior (and the fact I would own one if I had a few extra thousand setting around) is high praise. It's more than worth a test drive. It is a tough decision. I don't know if there's a right or even wrong answer. I know if I can only have one bike, my FZ1 is staying.

Here's a video of Warriors on the Dragon... looks like you need heel sliders instead of toe sliders, but still fun...

Dont flip a coin over this choise!

Go for "Your Dream Bike" as you put it in the other thread.lol

You wont be dissapointed. And if you bring any carving skills to the table from the R6 you wont have any trouble hanging with your friends. The Vmax handles great and trust me, It makes up int he straights where it loses in the corners.

I dont fall behind. Ever. And Mine has the "Old man Package" Wind screen and trunk. lol

'09 V-Max at the Dragon... poor video quality, twitchy editing and bad music, but it's what I found... :banghead:
I was surprised to find any because I didn't know they had gas stations along the Dragon :poke:

Of course, he could buy a Warrior and and FZ1 for the price of a V-Max :p But I'd have one if I could. Awesome bikes!

Ya VMax is still ranked number 1 but I could get an fz1 a lot sooner than saving up for the vmax. Seems like most people (even on the warrior forum) are telling me to go with the fz1.

The optimal way to choose is to RIDE all the bikes you are considering. That will tell you. You'll know from the grin on your face which one you have to have.

I've ridden many, but I'm keeping my FZ1. I've had 10 hour days of riding and love it.

We are about the same size too.

How about a FJR1300? Plenty of power, handles way better than the Warrior. Good passenger comfort (even better with a top case), more mpg than a FZ1 and long distance comfort and storage the FZ1 does not have.
Just wanted to make your decision harder :)

Actually I have a buddy at work who is selling his fjr1300 and he told me the same thing. I have no good reason to dislike the fjr other than I am fickle and dont like the look of those touring type bikes. I know its a good bike but I'm 21 years old dammit, I cant be seen in a grandpa looking bike!

I agree. I have ridden a warrior but have not ridden a fz1 yet. The only problem with that is that I dont trust myself. I have a smile on my face no matter what kind of bike Im on and it can be hard sometimes to figure out which bike will be better for me by a 5 mile test ride. I rode my friend's dad's 98 suzuki intruder 800 and I had a smile on my face but that thing is an ugly turd.
