Tach error code '7'?

Anyone know what it means? Key on run, and tach needle jumps to the 7000 rpm line periodically. What error is this and indicator of?

That would indicate that you have a problem with your EXUP valve.

Thanks! Do you know if anything related to the EXUP valve could also cause an electrical problem which would reset my electronic gauge (and trip odometers)?

It shouldn't. Check you battery and connections.

That can also mean your Throttle Position Sensor has an issue or is becoming unplugged. The TPS sensor uses the tach to tell you where to set the TPS. Dont quote me but i believe when the tach says 3,000 the angle is two small, when it points to 7,000 theres to much angle, and when it points to 5,000 your about perfect. The TPS is mounted with security torx screws, good luck.

Your bike started doing what? (trip odometer & clock get wiped out, (trip odo to Zero & clock to 12:00)? that is low battery voltage during starting.
