Seat stuck

I just picked up my new winter project, It is an 06 FZ1. I get it home and start to take off the seats and the rear came right out. The problem is the front seat, They didn't seat the clip in under the bracket in front of the gas tank, So it is on a bind and doesn't want to come off. My question is which way is the lever pushed to disengage? (Assuming you are seated on the bike). I want to make sure I don't further complicate the situation. Also any sage advice is always welcome.

Making sure not to push the bike off the stand, apply pressure to the back of the seat pushing it (the seat) forward,(maybe have someone hold the front of the bike). The lever should pull toward the center (or right side of bike) from the original position.

Seat mystery solved! I found the "new battery" my bike came with was not installed correctly. It was in the up position instead of laying down. It put the seat on a bind explaining the difficulty in removing it.
