Motul 5100 semi (15-50 or 10-40) to use or not to use

I recently purchased a new FZ1 and wanted to use the same oil I'm using in my Road Warrior (Motul 5100 semi-synthetic in the 15-50 or 10-40 weight). I change oil about every 2500 mi and live in the Monterey/Santa Cruz area. 99% of my riding is just puttin' around the backroads. Any thoughts?

I think you change your oil so frequently that it won't matter what you use :jaw drop:

Motul makes fine oil, have at 'er

lol.. +1! 2.5k puttering miles on high quality synthetic? Can I have your old oil? :D

I would go with 10/40, since that's what these bikes call for.

my last bike was a warrior. i used motul 5100, 15-50. my oil change interval was 3,500mi. after seeing that the oil was still clean i plan on changing oil at 4,000mi.

either one will be fine it depends on what the av temp is there, hot use 15/50, cold use 10/40,I use 10/40 , 7100 motul full syn with longer changes.

Changing the oil that frequently... you could probably use veggy oil... lol

I would not use he 15-50 personally. But I suppose it also depends on your climate and time of year if has a wide range of temperatures.

:rtfm:

Your over thinking it.

Given Montery's climate, I wouldnt use that.

Save some money. Try the Rotella T6 5-40wt.
ORIELLY AUTO had it on sale.
