Manual chain tensioners are great for replacing OEM if they are crap, the FZ has a very good tensioner so I would not go that way. They have to be torqued correctly or you will cause damage, I have seen the results on MX bikes and it can get expensive ! JMO

I love mine on my zx14 but the Fz1 dont really need one my 06 never needed one anyway.
If your thinking the cam chain is why the engine is noisy then you never had a yamaha with 20 valves before.

I dont know if anyone has put one on an fz1 or not.
They do work good on bikes that need them.
