Knee Dragging; Son of a BLEEP

Hi Everyone !

After taking a break I am back on the forum. Yay!

Getting to the point, I now have a full 2 piece Joe Rocket GPX Type R suit completed with full style racing boots and gauntlets. Besides getting to feel safer I have been attempting to get my knee down to the ground while going around long sharp turns.

Note* I'm still riding a 2007 suzuki katana 750 (my brother rides the Gen1 FZ1)

This information brings me to my two main points/questions.

1. Can someone please explain in detail a good procedure to get your knee down. ( I have already seen the MCN videos and I know to : Have the ball of my inside foot on the foot peg, Keep my elbows down, my shoulder and head off the bike in line with the mirror but still looking in the turn.) Where is my ass supposed to go?

2. I noticed some grease build up on the side of my tires and it extended inward on the wheel a little bit. Will this cause the bike to slide out from under me while leaning the bike over far or will it burn off? If so is there an easy way to remove it?

Any help would be appreciated guys.

Thanks

Your butt shouldn't move beyond your shoulders. Practice hanging off first. Knee dragging shouldn't be the aim but keeping the bike straight is the goal. That is called straightening the curve. Hanging off should be used to compensate the centrifugal force and vice versa. Once you get the hold of it, are able to maintain a line, the balance of the bike, the knee will automatically touch. I will recommend practicing this in a parking lot rather than on public roads.
