I dropped my FZ today :(

Today was a sad day for me, while out on a ride we got stuck behind a group of stupid annoying cyclists. Usally i would just play with the throttle and blow past them but today they had a motorcycle cop following them making sure all the other road users were following the rules... BOOORING. so i pulled over to wait untill they had cleared off but as i stopped I hadn't noticed that my stand didn't go down properly and so I dropped my bike in the parking lot :doh2:
So now I have a crack just behind the seat in the rear plastic.:( and as it tried to catch it I herd my shoulder go POP! followed by allot of pain : oops: I blame the cyclists, I never pull over there so even though the operation of the stand is my job, I am still blaming them.. stupid cyclists why don't they get an engine its way more fun!

Just hope its not your rotator cuff (spelling?) The plastic is an easy fix mate. On the cycle thing, you buy them to get fit then spend up to 10k to get the lightest thing so its easier to ride! I don't get it but each to his own.

Sorry about your shoulder but the irony is hilarious. Your body falls apart while you are probably cursing the fit people on bicycles under your breath. They had an escort? Maybe it was some charity ride for shoulder surgery. ;)

Hehehe

I do hope it's nothing serious!

Don't get me started on cyclists on our roads... if they want that much room and cause that much disruption then they should be paying rego and CTP insurance too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wish I could ride around without paying anything to the RTA and cause that much grief!!! :stirpot::stirpot::stirpot::deadhorse::deadhorse:

They had an escort because they are in training for the "Tour Down Under" our international cycling race. I myself am a cyclist but there is a time and a place and in the hills on twisty winding roads where motorbikes are doing 100+ kms/hr around blind corners isn't the right place, they are a danger on our roads and seem oblivious to the danger they cause. I'm all for cycling but just not where I'm putting myself and other road users in danger. :australia:

Sucks bro, our natural instinct is to try to catch our falling bikes, forgetting that it's close to 400lbs that's already on the way down so that sudden resistance will disrupt a joint before it stops a bike from falling, depending the degree of lean angle it had gotten to. Hope the shoulder goes well.

Note to self: Let it fall, since I probably won't be able to stop it anyway. NAH!! GOTTA TRY FOR THE SAVE LOL.

I agree with you. I know we are supposed to share the road and I have no problem with cyclists in general, but when you come around a blind turn and they are taking up the whole lane...well that's a problem!!!

Hope you heal quickly so you can get back to riding :)

When you start to think about it how many accidents have push bike riders caused? I just love it when you come around a corner and they are taking up all the lane so you have no where to go except on the wrong side of the road just lucky no one is coming the other way:banghead:
I feel sorry for you mate dropping your bike but it reminded me of when I used to own a Yamaha TRX850 and I was in a hurry so as I'm pulling up I kick down the side stand and at the same time I'm getting off the bike and the side stand flicks back I was lucky to catch the bike before it went to far over LOL!!

I feel your pain! I just dropped mine the other day and hurt my back when I yanked it up off the ground. Hope you heal quickly and sure hope nothing major is wrong!

hope you get better soon and the crack can easily be mended.

I still remember my accident in 2010 with 5 cyclists on a roundabout when I came in scraping pegs, where they were out of my sight due to a statue in the centre of the roundabout. I had two choices, drop the bike or slam into the group...I opted for the first choice, avoiding seriously injuries to the cyclists, but suffered for nearly 8 monts from a painful shoulder...but this is all over and I have learned yet another important lesson...go for option 2 so you share the pain :spank2:

That sucks. I remember seeing someone drop a bike the same way.

I am a cyclist also (or at least up until last summer) & there is no excuse for being out of lane. But I know it happens.

BTW, I believe my bike is 485lbs dry, which is well over 500 with fuel, etc. Use your legs to lift!

There seems to be a common theme here of people coming around unsighted/blind corners too quickly and encountering something they weren't expecting.

Don't overdrive your vision.....it's simple and good roadcraft anyway. Doesn't matter if it is a cyclist, a farm tractor, or a bunch of diesel dumped in your lane, if you can't see what's around the bend SLOW DOWN.

Yea, I agree. That's why roads like the Pacific Coast Highway and Rt 129 (the Dragon) are so dangerous. Too many blind turns and too many motorcyclist that think they are impervious to crashing :disapproval:

Bottom line...if you can't see around the turn then slow down and leave yourself an out in case there's an unexpected object/car/person in your lane...

or Javelina crossing ;)

Reminds me about the only time I actually dropped my FZ1. I never even mentioned it on here because it was so minor (and I was embarrassed)...

I stopped at Chevron to set my tire pressure. I was off the bike and about to fill the front tire. I couldn't get to the valve stem so I slightly rolled the bike forward just a bit. I do it in my garage all the time but I guess it doesn't slide so well on rough asphalt. Well you can guess what happened. The kickstand folded back just enough to where the bike started to fall over. I panicked and jumped under it and it kinda fell on my leg and the only part that barely touched down was the frame slider and mirror. Luckily not even a mark on the bike. I did have a nice bruise on my leg though...:D

I had multiple witnesses to the event and I saw a few laughing...:disapproval:

I almost dropped my YZF1000 also the same way last year. I rolled it a little and didn't realize the kickstand had folded a bit. As soon as I let go the kickstand gave and the bike fell against me. Luckily I was still right next to the bike and was just able to pick it right up. Never hit the ground, just my thigh otherwise I would have
