So, the first ride of 2013 is finally in the books! Me and Ray (CanonFuji) rode up North to Harriman first, then over by West Point and Route 218, then finally winding up in Newburgh at a cool Rib Joint for a bite to eat. The bike ran flawlessly at we really had a blast on 218! We did two runs yesterday. I took it easy on the first cause it's really tight and I haven't been there since last year. The second run back up was ripping! Video of that at the end of the post. First some really cool pictures!
Up on Perkins for the first time this year.
So, we're standing around shooting the breeze with some guys and this guy pulls in with this, a MINT 82' Suzuki GS1100 Wes Cooley Replica.
It started getting busy up there at the peak. Seems like it was the day to be on two wheels. Gotta love it!
A pretty nice Thruxton. I would have liked it better with clip-ons and Cafe style tail section.
I just love this particular Kawi, even in that lime green color.
Nice Ducati with Rizoma Clear Engine Cases.
A few more bikes rode in.
A pretty white 848.
YZF R6
Yet another Duc.
We worked our way up to West Point and Route 218. It's a real short section of narrow 2 lane road that is super twisty. It's not more than 4 or less miles long but it is quite entertaining and tricky in some spots where the rock faces jut out into the lane on turns.
Here's Ray at the highest point at the overlook.
The last photo taken by Ray of me heading up on our second run.
Okay, so now for the video. Keep in mind that I had placed a mount up on the top of the windshield. BIG MISTAKE!!! When I got home I couldn't believe the noise and vibration it made. The video was way too shakey. I had to overlay the video with a ton of anti-shake to smooth it out. Next time up I promise to have it mounted somewhere else.
